The Gray Prince is the undisputed Grand Champion of the Arena and has been waiting for an opponent to challenge him to a fight. Upon arriving at the Arena for the first time, players can talk to him, but sadly, will not be able to find out why he is gray. However, the Gray Prince does offer a quest to find out more about his birthright, adding depth to his character's story.
This guide includes a walkthrough on the Origin of the Gray Prince quest and what happens after the quest is finished in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
It is important to note that players who want to fight the Gray Prince fair and square should avoid completing this quest, as the fight becomes very easy. The fight itself is quite challenging, especially on lower levels, so you will have to decide whether or not fighting him is worth it. The rewards will remain the same.
Origin of the Gray Prince Walkthrough in Oblivion Remastered
How To Start the Origin of the Gray Prince in Oblivion Remastered
To start the quest, you must make your way to the Arena in the Imperial City, where you can join and fight challenging opponents to earn Gold as a reward. Once you head inside the Bloodworks, you can find the Gray Prince sparring on the right. Talk to him, and he will tell you about his lineage. He will hand you over a key and ask you to travel to Crowhaven and find out about his birthright.
Once the conversation is over, head out of the Arena and fast travel to Anvil, which is to the southwest of the map. Start going towards the marker, and soon you will reach Crowhaven. There are a few skeletons outside the front gate that you can deal with before heading inside the Fort through the door on the ground floor. Head deep inside Crowhaven, following the linear path and dealing with all enemies in your path. Soon, you will come upon a gate; going through it, there are two ways to go.
The door to the southwest leads to the Burial Grounds. That is not the main path, but you can head inside to find a few chests with Gold, and guarding them are a few spectral enemies and Vampires. Head through the wooden door to the southeast, and you will be ambushed by Lord Lovidicus. If you contract Porphyric Hemophilia during the fight, make sure that you cure it by using an Altar of the Nine at any Chapel or completing a lengthy quest.
Once Lord Lovidicus is dealt with, make your way to his personal study, and you will find quite a few items as well as the Journal of the Lord Lovidicus sitting on a desk next to a brazier and statue. Read the journal and take it with you back to the Gray Prince. Once you are back at the Arena, talk to him and hand over the journal. This will complete the quest, and he will teach the Gray Prince's Training, also increasing your Blade, Block, and Athletics by +3.
How To Beat The Gray Prince In Oblivion Remastered
Once the Gray Prince finds out that he is a spawn of a Vampire, he will tell you to go away, and you will have to complete all your Arena matches in the meantime. Once you reach the title of Champion, then you can talk to the Gray Prince about fighting him, upon which he will ask you to end his misery. Talk to Ysabel Andronicus to get ready for the last Arena fight and switch back to your normal armor set, though you won't need it.
Once you go through the gates, you will be surprised to find out that Agronak gro-Malog does not want to fight and asks you to strike him down. Once you have killed him, loot his items and Raiment, and head back to Ysabel. Here, you can choose whether you want your Raiment of Valor to be Heavy or Light. You will get the Raiment and 1000 Gold, completing the Arena questline.
Once you head outside the Arena, you will be surprised to find the Adoring Fan waiting for you. He will ask you to let him follow you around, as you are the Grand Champion of the Arena.
