Gaming can be an expensive hobby. Putting aside hardware purchases, you are constantly bombarded by exciting new games that demand attention. They want your time, and they want your money. Sure, services like Game Pass and PS Plus provide access to hundreds of titles for a monthly fee, but you don't own any of them. No, sometimes, the only option is to drop some cash on a specific project. At least, in the case of open-world games, buyers tend to get their money's worth.
As long as someone can resist the urge to purchase a game immediately, they usually do not have to wait too long for a discount (Nintendo first-party games notwithstanding). At any given moment, there are dozens of open-world game deals, to the point that keeping track of all the discounts (and their stores) can be difficult. Consequently, let's go through some of the best sales available right now on the PS Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo Store, and Steam.
Here are a few notes and criteria:
- Every listed sale will be available for at least 24 hours after this article's publication.
- If a game does not have an end date listed alongside its sale price, that means the discount will last throughout the whole week (and beyond).
- All these prices are based in North America. Things might be different in other regions.
- The information is based on sales available as of August 18, 2025. New discounts could be revealed as the week progresses.
Best PS5 Open-World Games Deals
Monster Hunter Wilds, Judgment, Diablo 4, & More
Sony's PS Store is running a lot of deals at the moment, including an event in celebration of Gamescom. There are quite a few great open-world games that are on sale just until the end of August 18, with Assassin's Creed Shadows, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Hogwarts Legacy being just a few examples. However, you need to act fast to pick up these discounts.
If you end up missing out on those games, the PS Store has other sales that will last for the rest of the week. Days Gone Remastered is the Deal of the Week, so it is 25% off until early August 21. The divisive Monster Hunter Wilds is slightly discounted (and this is true for pretty much every version), while both Judgment games are on sale for attractive prices. Ark: Survival Ascended and Diablo 4 have also had their prices slashed.
- Ark: Survival Ascended – $22.49
- Days Gone Remastered – $37.49 (Ends August 21)

Upcoming Games Like GTA
May 2026 is still a ways away, and for players trying to pass the time until GTA 6 releases, these similar upcoming games are sure to fill the void.
Best Xbox Open-World Games Deals
Dragon's Dogma 2, Dead Rising, Outer Wilds, & More
Offering a blend of Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S deals, the Microsoft Store has an impressive lineup of discounted open-world games, and that includes a couple of pretty big names. Dragon's Dogma 2 garnered universal acclaim at launch, but its post-life existence has been somewhat polarizing. That said, the action RPG is still very good, and it can be picked up right now for roughly half the price.
Outer Wilds is a masterpiece and probably the best open-world game on sale, and it is easily worth picking up if you have to try it. Ashen is an underrated open-world Soulslike that beat Elden Ring to the punch by a number of years. The Dead Rising franchise is on sale, too.
- Ashen – $9.99
- Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster – $29.99 (Ends August 23)
- Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition – $5.99 (Ends August 23)

Best Nintendo Switch Open-World Games Deals
Hogwarts Legacy, Batman, Lego, & More
As the Nintendo Switch 2 has only been out for roughly two months, very few of its games are currently on sale. That said, there is a notable exception in Hogwarts Legacy, as both versions are currently discounted. There is also a huge difference in quality between the Switch 1 and 2 iterations.
Otherwise, Switch open-world games are on sale, and they can generally be played on the new console too. Batman: Arkham Trilogy includes some of the greatest games of all time, but Arkham Knight does not run that well on the original Switch. Dying Light: Definitive Edition is one of the best horror open-world games, and the Nintendo Store has a couple of Lego titles on sale, too.
- Batman: Arkham Trilogy – $23.99
- Dying Light: Definitive Edition – $9.99
- Haven – $7.49
- Hogwarts Legacy – $11.99
- Hogwarts Legacy (Switch 2 Version) – $41.99
- LEGO DC Super-Villains Deluxe Edition – $7.49
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – $11.99
- The Outer Worlds – $7.49
