Meanwhile, others may find themselves becoming a leader of the land they find themselves a part of. This makes for an interesting title as the player not only takes on the role of a Monarch, but also a knight or a merchant, as well as many other options too.

5 V Rising

Survival titles are something that players usually expect to allow the player to become a ruler, though V Rising challenges players to build up their castle and become a vampire lord. Starting off as a lowly fledgling, the player will have next to nothing but through collecting resources and hypnotizing the humans that also live within this dark world, players will quickly have their castle and the servants to do their bidding.

Eventually, the player will become strong enough through killing V Bloods, which gives them powers and other crafting recipes to eventually take on Dracula himself and take his place as one of the strongest vampires.

Players are also able to travel further than their new kingdom, as they are also tasked with defeating various monsters that threaten the people, as well as being connected to the story of Rune Factory 4 Special.

Out of all the open-world games that allow the player to become a ruler, one of the best of the bunch has to be Fable 3. In the third title of the incredible franchise, players actually start the title as a prince or princess who must fight to support a revolution in the kingdom of Albion.

Alongside the people, the player must defend their kingdom as its ruler, since the player has such a high position throughout this open-world adventure, the choices they make will likely have everlasting consequences which may either see Albion prosper or watch it crumble to dust.
