The Demon Cyborg Genos is an S-Class Rank 12 hero and a self-proclaimed disciple of the A-Class Rank 39 hero Saitama, also known as the Caped Baldy. As a cyborg, Genos undoubtedly has one of the biggest raw firepower, even among other S-Class heroes. Unfortunately for him, no matter how powerful he gets, all it takes is a single punch from Saitama to turn him into rubble.
That being said, Genos still strives to be as powerful as possible. To him, every battle is an opportunity to learn and to improve himself. Thanks to Dr. Kuseno, his combat experiences translate into numerous upgrades that propel the Demon Cyborg to a new height. The following is every notable upgrade that Genos has received throughout One Punch Man.

Garou is the most formidable opponent that the Hero Association has ever faced, so let's break down all of his forms so far.
Minor Upgrades
Before we get to the big ones, let’s talk about some minor ones first. After all, not every upgrade has to be a full-body rebuild. Even minor improvements can be the difference between life and death on a battlefield. That’s why Dr. Kuseno regularly installs minor upgrades based on the combat data from Genos’ latest fight in order to make him ready to take on anything that comes his way.

The first minor upgrade that Genos installed after he met Saitama was a pair of new arms. These arms boast enough firepower to incinerate a cliff and turn it into dust. Genos donned these new arms on his first serious spar against Saitama. This new upgrade boosts Genos’ speed and firepower to the max, but unfortunately for him, it is still not enough to beat his new master.

When not in use, Arms Mode takes the form of a suitcase. When activated, the suitcase will transform into a pair of arms that will be wrapped around Genos’ arms. As for the functionality, it is actually quite similar to the upgrade that he used during his sparring session with Saitama. The only difference is that the size of the Arms Mode is way bigger, and it packs even more firepower than the previous upgrade.
I am prepared to do anything to become stronger. But I simply cannot imagine ever approaching master’s strength.

During his fight against the Sea King, the monster ripped Genos’ arms apart, which greatly reduced his fighting power. In fact, that is one of the main reasons why Genos lost that fight. That’s why Genos’ next upgrade is a pair of arms that can be detached from his elbows to launch a rocket punch. The detached limbs are connected by a highly durable steel wire, which enables Genos to recall his detached arms back, and it can also be used to strangle enemies.

Major Upgrades
Throughout his career as a hero, Genos has fought against numerous powerful opponents that can, and have, shredded him apart. After such difficult battles, Genos usually suffers critical damage that requires Dr. Kuseno to fully rebuild him from scratch. Thankfully for him, the genius scientist often uses this chance to install major upgrades that make Genos stronger than he was before.

After the Sea King, Genos’ next powerful enemy is a massive robot named G4 that is not only equipped with cutting-edge tech that Genos has never seen before but also has numerous tricks up his sleeve. It takes quite some time, but Genos eventually manages to defeat G4. Genos then asks Dr. Kuseno to use some of G4’s parts as a basis for his next upgrade. As a result, he now has a super durable body, and his speed and power are greatly enhanced as well.

During the Super Fight competition, one of the strongest martial artists in the world, a burly man named Gouketsu, eats a substance that turns him into an absurdly powerful monster. On his way to the Monster Association HQ, Gouketsu beats Genos, Suiryu, and several other A-Class heroes. Since he is beaten by a martial artist, Genos’ next upgrade focuses more on increasing his agility and adding arm blades for slashing attacks. Furthermore, his rocket punch is fully wireless now.

This upgrade is the most extravagant one yet. The design of this upgrade is inspired by the latest monster that defeated Genos, the colossal Elder Centipede. And just like the monster, this armor also put a heavy emphasis on sheer offensive power and extreme durability. It can shoot bendable laser beams to ensure a perfect hit. Furthermore, Genos can push this armor beyond its limit to produce a similar power output as S-Class Rank 2 Hero Tatsumaki, but he can only do it for ten seconds before his core melts down.
Post Psychic-Sisters Arc Upgrade

First Appearance |
Chapter 185 |
|---|---|
|
Release Date |
June 1, 2023 |
The latest upgrade to Genos’ armor happens about several weeks after the big fight against Psykos. Genos used his strongest armor yet at the time, but now that Dr. Kuseno has the time to properly develop the tech, the new armor is by far the most powerful one that Genos has donned thus far. It can pulverize a Dragon-level monster with ease, and it also has the sleekest design yet. Hopefully, this armor can last a bit longer than the previous ones.
These upgrades are more than some new parts for a cyborg. It represents Genos’ resilience as a hero and his determination to always claw back up no matter how deep he falls into the abyss. These armors are undeniable proof of the hard-fought battles that he has been through and his relentless pursuit of justice. These upgrades are a testament to Genos’ true value as an S-Class hero.
