This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Roronoa Zoro was the first person to join Luffy on his quest to become the Pirate King. Luffy had to convince him a lot, but ultimately his efforts paid off. Ever since becoming a part of the Straw Hat Pirates, Zoro has been nothing but useful to the crew, and it's mainly because of his amazing strength. In fact, Zoro was known throughout East Blue as the Pirate Hunter.

One Piece: Oda Has Decided Where Zoro Vs Mihawk Will Happen

Zoro vs Mihawk is the most anticipated fight in One Piece. Oda has already decided when and where it will take place.

By

With every passing One Piece arc, Zoro has grown stronger both physically and mentally, which has enabled him to take down some big-name opponents, with King being his latest victim. Considering his victories, it's hard to believe that Zoro can still improve and conquer his greatest foe—Dracule Mihawk.

Zoro Was Humiliated By Mihawk

Zoro vs. Mihawk 4

When the Straw Hats reached Baratie, they had no idea what kind of threats awaited them. No one in their right mind believed that they would run into Dracule Mihawk, a Shichibukai who held the title of being the strongest swordsman in the world. When Zoro saw Mihawk, he recognized him immediately and decided to fight him. After all, he had promised Kuina that his name would reach the heavens. Zoro knew that Mihawk wasn't like his previous opponents, so he went all out from the beginning.

I Have Found That Fancy Titles Mean Nothing When It Comes To Fighting

Despite putting full force behind his attacks, Zoro couldn't graze Mihawk. Mihawk mocked the young swordsman several times in the fight, which only added to Zoro's frustration. While Zoro didn't damage Mihawk, he did impress his opponent. Before dealing the final blow to Zoro's torso, Mihawk urged him to grow stronger and seek him out.

No matter how many times fans watch the fight, it is clear that Zoro was humiliated by Mihawk. The latter used it as a chance to demonstrate how far superior he was to his opponent. Having suffered a crushing defeat, Zoro knew that he had to get stronger, and that's why he dedicated so much time and effort to his goal.

Zoro Was Trained By Mihawk

Since Zoro was battered by Mihawk, it didn't occur to fans that the latter would end up becoming the teacher of the Straw Hat. But that's exactly what happened after Zoro was sent to Kuraigana Island by Bartholomew Kuma. Initially, Zoro planned to leave immediately to regroup with Luffy but after seeing his captain's tattoo, decided to stay and train. So, he implored Mihawk to take him under his wing. As odd as the request was, it showed how loyal Zoro was to Luffy. Otherwise, he would never bow down to his biggest rival.

Mihawk was taken aback by Zoro's request, but he decided to train him anyway. The Straw Hat remained on the island for two years and learned to use Armament and Observation Haki. Additionally, Zoro developed new techniques that would come in handy while facing enemies. After two years, he left and reconvened with the Straw Hats, and since then, he has been constantly fighting strong opponents.

Zoro's Next Power Up Will Be A Big One

Currently, the One Piece manga is focused on the Elbaf arc, where the Straw Hats have to face Imu and two other Holy Knights. All three of them possess overpowered abilities, which have enabled them to dominate the giants. At one point, it seemed that Imu and the Holy Knights would easily accomplish their goal of taking away the children and using them as weapons. However, the return of Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Loki has changed things, especially after Gaban revealed that Conqueror's Haki can stop the regeneration of the Holy Knights.

Zoro was confirmed as a Conqueror's Haki user in Wano, and he used it to beat King. Later, Zoro defeated Lucci in the Egghead arc with his Conqueror's Haki-imbued attack. While his victories are certainly impressive, it is worth mentioning that he had to toil a lot for them, mainly because he still can't use Conqueror's Haki freely. However, that will need to change if the heroes want to overcome their opponents. Zoro has to learn to use Advanced Conqueror's Haki without relying on Enma. By doing so, Zoro will not only be able to bypass the regenerative powers of the Holy Knights, but his attacks in general will be stronger.

Zoro Will Fight Mihawk Again Before One Piece Ends

Once Roronoa Zoro and the rest of the Straw Hats leave Elbaf, they will get closer to Laugh Tale. But before they reach the island, they will have to face other threats, and one of them will likely be the Cross Guild. Buggy has stated his desire to claim the One Piece, and his ever-eager underlings were more than happy to help him reach the goal.

  • Mihawk and Crocodile weren't exactly thrilled with the decision, but they had no other choice.

Since the Straw Hats and the Cross Guild want the same thing, there's no doubt that they will cross paths sooner rather than later. When that happens, Zoro will fight Mihawk again. Needless to say, the fight between them will be one for the history books. When Zoro finally beats Mihawk, he will become the new strongest swordsman in the world.

Zoro Will Fight Even Stronger People

  • Zoro will fight an Admiral
  • Zoro could also fight against Jesus Burgess

However, Zoro's adventure won't end there. After all, the crew has to reach Laugh Tale at all costs. Even if the Cross Guild is done for, there are still others who will pose a threat to them. Obviously, the World Government will try to stop them by sending Marines. If that's the case, then Zoro will likely fight Fujitora, who is a renowned swordsman. Zoro and Fujitora have already crossed paths in Dressrosa, and that time, it was the Admiral who came out on top. But their next meeting will have a different result.

Another fight that fans can look forward to is Zoro vs. Jesus Burgess. The latter is a Titanic Captain of the Blackbeard Pirates. It's common for Zoro to fight the first in command of the opposite crew. So, it is extremely likely that Zoro will face Jesus Burgess in one of the later arcs. Jesus Burgess has proven himself as an elite combatant who possesses the Riki Riki no Mi, a Devil Fruit that enhances his physical strength significantly. So, he will pose a major threat to Zoro. In either case, One Piece fans can expect Zoro's next couple of fights to be his best to date.
