This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
The Straw Hat Pirates are currently battling for their lives in Elbaf, where Imu and the Holy Knights are rampaging. The One Piece heroes are at a significant disadvantage, but they must turn things around to survive. The Straw Hats will likely have to fight invading forces, which means Zoro will have to get involved as well.
One Piece: Is Roronoa Zoro Stronger Than Rob Lucci?
Can Zoro beat the most talented assassin in a fight?
Roronoa Zoro Has Mastered Enma
Zoro Has Learned To Control Enma's Power
Zoro obtained Enma in Wano, and since then, he has used the sword in many battles. Initially, Zoro struggled to control the blade, and it ended up draining his Haki. This was a massive problem for the swordsman, but he seems to have it under control now.
In the Egghead arc, Zoro more or less mastered the use of Enma. He was able to fight against Rob Lucci without any complications, which is proof enough that he had complete control over Enma. If he didn't, the sword would have drained his Haki, leaving him at Lucci's mercy. Later in the arc, Zoro also clashed with one of the Five Elders, who are easily some of the strongest One Piece characters. Zoro didn't seem to be struggling, which proves that he had no problems wielding Enma. The next step for Zoro will be to blacken the blade completely so that its grade will go up.
Currently, Enma is an O-Wazamono grade sword, but the blade will be a Saijo O-Wazamono if Zoro successfully blackens it. For this to happen, Zoro needs to keep fighting strong opponents who will push him beyond his limits. By dueling high-caliber competitors, Zoro's Haki will also improve. In fact, if he manages to master Conqueror's Haki, it will put him among the best fighters in One Piece. Aside from upgrading Enma and his Haki, Zoro will also gain one new sword before the Final War.
Zoro's Next Sword Will Be His Strongest
Zoro Will Obtain A Saijo O-Wazamono Grade Sword
Presently, Zoro has three swords, which are:
- Enma
- Wado Ichimonji
- Sandai Kitetsu
As previously stated, Enma is a O-Wazamono grade sword, and Wado Ichimonji is in the same class. Aside from having the potential to reach Saijo O-Wazamono grade, Wado Ichimonji also holds a great deal of emotional value for Zoro. He received the sword from Kuina's father, so it acts as a memento of their friendship. Zoro will undoubtedly blacken Wado Ichimonji in the future, so he will have another Saijo O-Wazamono grade sword.
Roronoa Zoro's Final Sword Upgrade Will Take Place In The Final Saga
However, Sandai Kitetsu is just a Wazamono grade sword, which is the lowest class. While the sword is still better than most, Zoro will have to replace it in the coming arcs. There are still many elite swords that Oda has yet to introduce in the story, but fans can expect him to do so soon. The enemies in Elbaf are tough as nails, and every single member of the Straw Hats will have to be on their toes to survive.
Zoro was last seen in the Underworld along with Luffy and the others. When they go back to the surface, they will have to face Imu, the Holy Knights, and the nightmare beasts. There is a possibility that once Elbaf's fate is settled, Oda will add a timeskip that will allow the Straw Hats to get stronger before they go to any other islands in the New World. Oda will give new weapons and power-ups to the Straw Hats, so there's a possibility that Zoro will receive his new blade in Elbaf.
You do what you can, the best that you can and then you turn to the others and expect the same from them. —Roronoa Zoro
Considering the story is in the Final Saga, fans wouldn't be wrong to assume that the next sword that Zoro gets will be a Saijo O-Wazamono. After all, he couldn't increase the grade of every single sword in such a short period of time. When Zoro gets his next sword, he will likely fight Dracule Mihawk and claim the title of the strongest swordsman in the world. This would allow him to fulfill his promise to Kuina and Luffy.
