Summary

  • Logia Type Devil Fruits in One Piece are incredibly powerful, allowing users to manipulate natural elements with few downsides.
  • Users become the element itself, making them immune to physical damage, but their weaknesses align with the natural weaknesses of the element.
  • Each Logia Type Devil Fruit has a specific weakness, such as heat against ice or rubber against lightning, providing a balanced power dynamic.

Putting aside the incredibly rare and unfairly overpowered Mythical Zoans, Logia Type Devil Fruits are the most powerful category of Devil Fruits in all of One Piece. Giving their users the ability to fully manipulate a certain natural element, these fruits have very few downsides and the characters who are shown to use them are often some of the most powerful ones in the entire series.

However, this doesn't mean the users of these fruits are invincible. More than just controlling these elements, the users become the elements, so they're mostly immune to all kinds of physical damage. But, their area of weakness is often the specific thing that the element itself is naturally weak against, so let's break down the weakness of every Logia Type Devil Fruit ever seen in One Piece.

Ace And Sabo's Mera Mera no Mi

Flame-Flame Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 91, "Farewell, Drum Island! I'm Going Out to Sea!"

Ability

Fire Manipulation

Ace made his debut quite early on in the story and showed the true strength of his Mera Mera no Mi Devil Fruit. This fruit gave him the ability to manipulate and become fire, which made him an extremely powerful character who could burn down anything he touched, earning him the moniker 'Fire Fist Ace' and gaining him a spot in the legendary Whitebeard Pirates. The fruit was eaten by Sabo upon resurrecting after Ace's death.

Weakness

Like other Logia Types, the Mera Mera no Mi allowed Ace to become fire in a literal sense, which meant that no physical damage could harm him. However, magma burns far hotter than fire, because of which Akainu overpowered and burned through Ace's fire resistance to strike his physical body, killing him. Ace was also susceptible to Fish-Man Karate or any other attack reinforced with water.

Crocodile's Suna Suna no Mi

Sand-Sand Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 76, "Critical Counterattack! Usopps Quick Wit and Kaenboshi!"

Ability

Sand Manipulation

The Suna Suna no Mi allowed Crocodile to control sand as much as he desired. The reason he was so dangerous was due to his mastery of the fruit, as he could make structures with sand, reinforce his body with it, unleash destructive waves of sand, or even drain someone's body of all its moisture.

Weakness

The Suna Suna no Mi was weak to water, as the properties of sand made it clump together when wet, allowing Crocodile's enemies to have a much more solid target to hit. This was displayed when Luffy used all the extra water to eventually bring the villain down in Alabasta.

Enel's Goro Goro no Mi

Rumble-Rumble Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 167, "God Enel Appears! Aubade to the Survivors!"

Ability

Lightning Manipulation

The Goro Goro no Mi is said to be the strongest Logia Type Devil Fruit of them all, and Enel's mastery over it allowed him to create g igantic and powerful storms that ravaged all of Skypeia and let him create a giant form out of lightning. He could also turn himself into lightning, allowing him to be intangible and incredibly fast.

Weakness

The Goro Goro no Mi has one of the most specific weaknesses of all Devil Fruits, which is rubber, due to its insulating properties that can halt the flow of electricity. It just so happened to be that Luffy showed up when Enel was enacting his grand plan, as nothing else could have ever stopped him.

One Piece: Kaido's Uo Uo no Mi Devil Fruit, Explained

Kaido owed much of his overwhelming power to his Uo Uo no Mi, a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that made him one of the strongest characters in One Piece.

Kuzan's Hie Hie no Mi

Ice-Ice Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 225, "The Man of Pride! Foxy the Silver Fox!"

Ability

Ice Manipulation

Kuzan's Hie Hie no Mi gives him full control of ice, which he can manipulate to form powerful solid projectiles that can do a great deal of damage to anyone they hit. He can also reinforce his body into an ice form that acts as very tough armor to protect him from physical attacks.

Weakness

Unlike other users of Logia Devil Fruits, the solid nature of ice doesn't make Kuzan intangible when he transforms into his elemental form, making him far easier to hit than others, even though Haki is required. The natural weakness of ice is fire, which means that Ace's Mera Mera no Mi and Akainu's Magu Magu no Mi are strong against it.

Akainu's Magu Magu no Mi

Magma-Magma Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 463, "Burn Everything to Ash! Admiral Akainu's Power!"

Ability

Magma Manipulation

The Magu Magu no Mi is one of the strongest Logia Types, especially in terms of offensive output. Due to letting Akainu control and become magma or molten rock, this Devil Fruit can generate enough heat to melt an entire iceberg within a few seconds. It can burn any weapon or person it comes into contact with, even swallowing up the flames made from the Mera Mera no Mi.

Weakness

This is an especially powerful Devil Fruit since it gives Akainu full control over magma. As such, it doesn't have the same sort of natural weaknesses as other Logia types, there are just a few things here and there that the fruit cannot harm, such as Shank's Saber and Whitebeard's Bisento.

Smoker's Moku Moku no Mi

Smoke-Smoke Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 48, "The Town of the Beginning and the End - Arrival at Loguetown"

Ability

Smoke Manipulation

Introduced as one of the very first Logia Type Devil Fruits in the entire series, it gave Captain Smoker incredible powers. Smoker has the power to create endless smoke clouds and can turn his body into smoke as well, making him intangible and impervious to most attacks.

Weakness

Just like Akainu's fruit, there seems to be no specific natural weakness of this Devil Fruit, and the only way to properly work against it is through the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses that affect all of these objects, such as Haki. However, it was shown that smoke and fire cancel each other out in Smoker's short battle against Ace.

By

Monet's Yuki Yuki no Mi

Snow-Snow Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 607, "Heated Fierce Battle - Luffy vs. Caesar"

Ability

Snow Manipulation

The Yuki Yuki no Mi has abilities quite similar to Kuzan's Hie Hie no Mi, in that it allows Monet to turn her body into, and fully manipulate, snow. She is impervious to cold and can make powerful constructs from her element, though this fruit is outright inferior to the Hie Hie no Mi.

Weakness

Instead of just having an outright natural weakness in the form of another element, this Devil Fruit is susceptible to all forms of heat, so Ace's fire and Akainu's magma are the natural counters to Monet. Aside from the standard weaknesses for all Devil Fruits, Monet can also be mentally unstable at times, which affects her powers considerably.

Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi

Dark-Dark Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 325, "The Most Evil Ability! Blackbeard's Darkness Attacks Ace!"

Ability

Darkness/Gravity Manipulation

The Yami Yami no Mi is easily one of the most powerful Devil Fruits in One Piece. This is because it not only gives Blackbeard full control over gravity, essentially making him a walking Black Hole, but it also allows him to absorb and nullify the effects of any other Devil Fruit!

Weakness

To make this fruit even more terrifying, it doesn't have a traditional, natural weakness. However, this fruit doesn't allow the user to transform into an intangible elemental state like other Logias do. Instead, he has to actively turn on the ability to absorb attacks, and if he doesn't, he gets damaged as any regular human would. All standard Devil Fruit weaknesses do apply to this fruit though.

Kizaru's Pika Pika no Mi

Glint-Glint Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 400, "Roger and Rayleigh - The Pirate King and His Right Hand"

Ability

Light Manipulation

As one of the strongest Logia Fruits of them all, Kizaru's Pika Pika no Mi allows him to transform into light and also shoot out searing and powerful beams of light. Not only this, the Pika Pika no Mi also lets Kizaru make constructs out of his element and even travel at the speed of light.

Weakness

As its name suggests, this fruit is susceptible especially to Blackbeard's darkness powers on top of all the standard weaknesses attributed to all Devil Fruits. Moreover, Kizaru's attacks can be undone by a strong enough defense and can only travel in straight lines.

Karasu's Susu Susu no Mi

Soot-Soot Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 510, "Sanji's Suffering - The Queen Returns to His Kingdom"

Ability

Soot Manipulation

The Susu Susu no Mi allows Karasu to turn into and fully manipulate soot, which works very similarly to ash. By controlling all of the soot's fine particles, he can use this element quite like how Crocodile can use sand by making constructs and attacks out of it.

Weakness

No natural weakness has yet been attributed to this Devil Fruit, though it can be particularly weak to water, just like Crocodile's Suna Suna no Mi, as it can dissolve soot. The standard Devil Fruit weaknesses apply to it, especially Busoshoku Haki.

Caribou's Numa Numa no Mi

Swamp-Swamp Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 521, "The Battle Begins! SHhow the Training Results!"

Ability

Mud Manipulation

Caribou's Numa Numa no Mi gives him the power to turn into and manipulate mud, which gives him a surprisingly varied move set. Using his powers, Caribou can create massive swamps that can drown people and can store many weapons and provisions within himself.

Weakness

Mud is typically susceptible to water, and though this fruit hasn't been shown to have any specific natural weakness in the series, it was noted that once the user is confined to a space smaller than their frame, they will stay in a mud state. This was seen when Franky kept Caribou in a barrel, where he was in his mud form and couldn't change back.

Caesar Clown's Gasu Gasu no Mi

Gas-Gas Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 581, "The Crew is Confused! The Shocking Beheaded Samurai Appears!"

Ability

Gas Manipulation

The Gasu Gasu no Mi is pretty much an amped-up version of Smoker's Moku Moku no Mi. Caesar Clown was able to completely transform into a gaseous state that could be compressed into something as tiny as a flask, and the gas he produces is highly poisonous. He can even get rid of oxygen from the atmosphere.

Weakness

The Gasu Gasu no Mi appears to be weak against fire, as the gas it produces can be very easily set alight to create an explosion. This makes Ace and Akainu the natural counters to Caesar Clown's otherwise incredibly powerful Devil Fruit.

By

Aramaki's Mori Mori no Mi

Woods-Woods Fruit

First Appearance

One Piece, Episode 1079, "The Morning Comes! Luffy and the Others Rest"

Ability

Nature Manipulation

The Mori Mori no Mi allows Aramaki to create, manipulate, and control plant life to a high degree. By creating nature, Aramaki can grow plants and trees rapidly and can even absorb any liquid they touch. Much like Kuzan's Hie Hie no Mi, this fruit also turns the user's elemental form into a solid one.

Weakness

The obvious weakness of this fruit is, once again, fire, which can be used to burn down or incinerate any sort of plant life. Although this can be mitigated to an extent by training their wooden form, the natural weakness to fire is always there, on top of all the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
