This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.
2025 was an absolutely massive year for all the fans of Demon Slayer, as its latest anime movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1, was officially released. This movie caused massive repercussions in the anime community both in Japan and internationally, and it continues to do so even now. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is on track to become the greatest box office hit in Japan's history, and even internationally, the movie looks like it will continue to blow every other competitor away.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 Release Date: What to Expect
Demon Slayer fans are patiently waiting for the next movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2. Its release date might have already been revealed.
While Demon Slayer's new anime movie is already breaking all records, one thing that fans didn't expect was for it to beat One Piece in manga sales over the past few weeks. Despite One Piece getting a new volume around 2 months ago, Demon Slayer’s backlog sales have overtaken Japan.
Demon Slayer Manga Has Surpassed One Piece On Oricon Charts
Infinity Castle Movie Has Caused Massive Backlog Sales
- One Piece Volume 112 Dropped In July 2025
- Demon Slayer's Last Volume Dropped in 2020
In the most recent Oricon Charts, it has now officially been confirmed that Demon Slayer has beaten every other competitor, and that also includes One Piece. Demon Slayer is continuing to sell at a blistering speed, and much of that is down to the Infinity Castle movie adaptation. The main goal of an anime is to boost the sales of the manga, and that's why Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is as successful as it is right now. Fans have been absolutely blown away by the incredible success achieved by Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and it will continue to do so over the next few weeks as well.
One Piece, Naruto, And 5 Other Anime That Are Leagues Above Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling is big, but not as big as these other anime series.
For the sake of comparison, the most recent Oricon sales chart, which covers sales of manga from 18 August to 24 August shows that the top-selling manga in Japan is none other than Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, with total sales of 119,151 copies sold. Meanwhile, One Piece lags behind by quite a lot, and has managed to sell 29,698 copies in the same time period. Of course, this is affected by a lot of things, such as volume release. One Piece's last volume dropped in July 2025, and it is normal to expect sales to drop in two months.
Demon Slayer's Sales Will Continue To Spike For A Few Months
One Piece Volume 113 Comes Out In November
Right now, Demon Slayer is at the peak of its popularity. Infinity Castle has propelled it to new heights and there are two more movies to come, which some would argue are even bigger. Demon Slayer will, undoubtedly, get even bigger in the coming years. The series is projected to beat Naruto in the overall manga sales chart.
That said, beating One Piece is impossible. Demon Slayer is nowhere close to it in that regard, and even in yearly manga sales, it won't be able to compete as One Piece Volume 113 is set to drop in November 2025. That, combined with the previous two volumes, ensures that One Piece will compete with Jujutsu Kaisen to take the crown for the most sold manga in 2025. Still, beating One Piece for a significant portion of the year is a feat nonetheless.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 had already been released in some countries, while some others will get in in September. Fans who don't want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus. As for One Piece, the manga is still ongoing and will drop its 1159th chapter later this week.
