One Piece: Strongest Families That Can Rival The Monkey D. Family

The Monkey D. Name has become quite fearsome in the One Piece world. Its eldest known member, Monkey D. Garp, is a legendary Marine who rivaled the Pirate King. Then comes Monkey D. Dragon. This man is a revolutionary leading one of the biggest dangers to the World Government. And finally, there’s Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the story. Luffy had some humble beginnings in the East Blue, but now, he is one of the Four Emperors, leading one of the strongest pirate crews on the hunt for the One Piece.

Not many families can come close to the Monkey D. Family in One Piece, but there are a select few that can rival it such as the Rocks family or even the Gol D. One, and some that might even be stronger.

Charlotte Family

Prominent Members: Big Mom, Katakuri, Smoothie, Cracker

The Charlotte Family is one of the most powerful and prominent families in the One Piece world. This family is quite special, as most of its members belong to the same pirate crew, the Big Mom Pirates.

Of course, Big Mom is the most powerful member of this family and the one who started it. She is a Yonko with 85 children, all taking the Charlotte name, and many of her children are quite powerful. Her strongest child is definitely Charlotte Katakuri. He and Luffy had an incredible battle during the Whole Cake Island arc. Other strong members of this family include Smoothie, Cracker, and Snack, all part of the Sweet Commanders. There are also Perospero, Oven, and Daifuku, who are quite strong in their own regard. That said, this family has lost some power with the fall of Big Mom during the events of Wano.

Gol D. Family

Prominent Members: Roger, Ace

The Gol D. Name, previously thought to be Gold, is legendary, as it belongs to the most legendary pirate of the last era, Gol D. Roger. Gol D. Roger is the man who became the Pirate King and is the only known person to hold this title in One Piece. Not only was he nefarious, but he was also quite strong, being able to fight characters such as Rocks D. Xebec or even Whitebeard.

Roger is the only known person in One Piece to hold the family name Gol D. However, Portgas D. Ace is also a part of this family, even though he refused to take on the name of his father and instead stuck with his mother’s family name.

Rocks D. Family

Prominent Members: Xebec, Blackbeard

One of the craziest families Oda has revealed recently is the Rocks D. Family. Fans had already heard of Rocks D. Xebec previously, but Oda has only recently revealed more about him. Indeed, during the Elbaf flashback, fans finally saw what this legend looks like, and it didn’t disappoint.

During this flashback, fans also discovered that this man has a son, and a quite prominent one at that. This son is none other than Blackbeard. Blackbeard’s current name is Marshall D. Teach. Fans don’t know why he goes by this name, as it could be his way of concealing his identity or maybe even a case similar to Ace. Either way, Teach is still a part of the Rocks family, and some theories point to Buggy being one as well.

Figarland Family

Prominent Members: Shanks, Shamrock, Garling

When talking about powerful families, especially ones that can rival the Monkey D. Family, one can’t forget to mention the Figarland family, one of the 20 royal families ruling the world. While fans have only recently come to know of this family in One Piece, one of its prominent members has been a part of the story since the very beginning: Shanks. Shanks, however, has probably betrayed this family as he doesn’t claim the Celestial Dragon identity.

Aside from Shanks, this family has two more incredible members. The first is Figarland Shamrock, Shanks’s twin brother. This man is a part of the Holy Knights and is probably one of the strongest members of the World Government. The other member is Figarland Garling, the father of both Shanks and Shamrock. Garling was the leader of the Holy Knights but has since been promoted to the Five Elders.

Nerona Family

Prominent Members: Saint Imu

Only one member of the Nerona family is known, and yet, it is probably the strongest family right now in One Piece. Indeed, Nerona is the family of none other than Saint Imu themself, the secret ruler of the One Piece world. Imu has yet to showcase its full power, but one thing is for sure, they are insanely strong, and fans are about to see a glimpse of that in Elbaf, where Imu has taken over Gunko’s body.

Imu single-handedly makes the Nerona family a legendary name, but fans know that other members of this family also exist, given that it is an established family of Celestial Dragons.
