Monkey D Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, has, come a long way over the years. While he started his journey as a small fish in a big sea, Luffy has now reached the very pinnacle of strength and become one of the Four Emperors of the Sea. On Egghead Island, and now in Elbaf, Luffy has gotten even stronger and established better control over his overall abilities.
It can be said that while Luffy started his journey as a rather weak individual, now, he has surpassed plenty of the top tiers already, with an even higher ceiling to reach. Here are the One Piece characters that Luffy has surpassed in the Final Saga already.
Kuzan
Blackbeard's Strongest Underling
Kuzan is a former Admiral of the Navy and one of the strongest characters in One Piece. Known to hold the terrifying power of the Hie Hie no Mi, Kuzan is a threat to any Yonko of the One Piece, especially when his powers are combined with his highly refined Haki.
Kuzan is clearly an absolute monster in battle, and he could even match Akainu to a certain degree in combat. However, in a battle against Luffy, Kuzan wouldn't be able to aim. An old Garp was able to get the better of Kuzan on multiple occasions on Egghead. Luffy has showcased feats far greater than an old and aging Garp. Not only is his Gear 5 superior to Kuzan, but his Haki is on an entirely different tier. Luffy would make quick work of Kuzan in battle.
Dracule Mihawk
The World's Strongest Swordsman
Dracule Mihawk is the World's Strongest Swordsman, and quite a powerful individual in One Piece. He has a bounty of 3.590 billion berries, and it can be said that he is around the same level as the likes of the Yonko. Luffy certainly is no swordsman, however, in a proper battle, he would be able to take down Mihawk without too much trouble.
Luffy's the man who defeated Kaido, and recently, he showed that he had the ability to take on both an Elder and an Admiral at the same time. By all means, Luffy is above Mihawk's level and there is absolutely no competition here, regardless of what people believe Mihawk's strength to be.
Marine Admirals
The Military Powerhouse Of The Government
The Marine Admirals are powerful individuals in One Piece, each being worth around 3 billion berries, thanks to the bounties placed on them by the Cross Guild. These individuals hold tremendously powerful Haki at their disposal, and at the same time, they also have very overpowered Devil Fruits.
On Egghead Island, Luffy faced Kizaru and was able to knock him down without even going all out. In fact, Luffy actually dealt deadly blows to Kizaru on more than one occasion. The Admiral is certainly strong, but Luffy is stronger, and against any other Admiral as well, Luffy would absolutely showcase his superiority.
Rayleigh
The Right Arm Of The Pirate King
The Dark King, Silvers Rayleigh is an absolutely monstrous pirate who served as the right-hand man of Roger once. Rayleigh also trained Luffy in the arts of Haki during the timeskip. Right now, he is quite old, however, that doesn't mean he's weak. He was still strong enough to make Blackbeard retreat from Amazon Lily, although he openly exclaimed that he could not defeat Blackbeard in an all-out battle due to his aging body.
Still, Rayleigh is a force to be reckoned with. Yet, Luffy would still defeat him in battle. Luffy's control over Haki is much better, and his Nika transformation is something that puts him on a different tier entirely.
Kozuki Oden
The Strongest Samurai
Kozuki Oden was one of the strongest individuals in One Piece, and also, at the same time, one of the most underrated ones. Oden was quite clearly on the same tier as the likes of the Yonko, and he's left such a profound impression on Kaido that the Yonko believed him to be one of the five strongest people that he had fought in his entire life.
Essentially, Kaido believed Oden to be the pinnacle of strength. Oden could potentially have killed Kaido when they fought long ago, and that just goes to show how strong he was in his prime. Yet, Luffy would surely defeat Oden in battle, given that he has managed to surpass him with the usage of Gear 5 now, as well as the ability to utilize all forms of Advanced Haki.
Big Mom
A Former Yonko
The Yonko Big Mom is a character that Luffy never got the chance to fight properly. She is an individual that Luffy could definitely take on by himself now. Big Mom has a very terrifying Devil Fruit ability; however, the biggest power of this fruit, that is, Soul Pocus, is useless against Luffy.
At the same time, Luffy has better Haki than Big Mom, as shown in the Wano Country Arc. Overall, Luffy would certainly face trouble while beating Big Mom, but eventually, would win out.
Kaido
A Terrifying Yonko
Of course, the character that Luffy has surpassed rather recently is Kaido. In Wano, Luffy was able to reach the same level as Kaido in battle. When he utilized Gear 5, Luffy reached a tier above the Yonko. Some fans believe that Luffy only won because Kaido was not at full power. However, then, one also has to consider that Luffy died in the battle and was only able to make use of what little energy that he was left with when he utilized Gear 5 for the first time.
By Elbaf, Luffy's control over Gear 5 has improved to the point where he can utilize this power multiple times and hold his own against multiple Elders and even an Admiral easily. It might be hard for some to admit, but Luffy is certainly above Kaido right now.
Garp
The Hero Of The Marines
Luffy's very own grandfather, Garp is a monstrous individual who used to fight the Pirate King on an equal footing. It was clearly evident in the Egghead arc and the Elbaf flashback that Garp was a powerful individual who could take down an entire pirate crew by himself. He even held the upper hand in his battle against Kuzan until he was tricked by Shiryu and given a fatal wound.
On Egghead, Garp was able to deal deadly damage to everyone on the island, and even split the island sized skull itself in half. Garp's Haki is certainly very strong, but by his own admission, his strength has dropped due to his age. Luffy, on the other hand, is only growing in terms of strength and he certainly would be on a level above old Garp now.
