Blackbeard is the wielder of the Yami Yami no Mi, which he got by murdering the Fourth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Thatch. Its ability makes it unique and terrifying at the same time. The power of this fruit is that it nullifies all Devil Fruit abilities and attacks when its darkness touches them. Furthermore, whoever Blackbeard touches physically loses his Devil Fruit ability for as long as contact is maintained. This ability was revealed when Ace fought him, and later, when Luffy, who has a rubber body, took damage when Blackbeard smashed his body on the floor.
