August 24 Will Be A Sad Day For One Piece Fans
August 24 is going to be a very disappointing day for fans of the One Piece manga.
While this information might not have been picked up on by most of the fans, some certainly did, and now, fans have yet another legend in front of them that they absolutely cannot wait to see. To hype things even more, it is confirmed already that this legendary pirate from the Void Century was actually stronger than Rocks D. Xebec, which makes things all the more exciting. This pirate is so legendary that he even inspired Rocks to the point where he calls himself a "worshipper," and his name is Davy Jones.

One Piece fans know very well that the concept of legendary pirates existing in the past is real. Vegapunk confirmed in the Egghead arc that piracy actually goes way back, and that in the Second World, Joy Boy came out after his birth in the Ancient Kingdom, and that he was the man known to be the First Pirate.
Although Joy Boy was the first pirate, he wasn't the only one. One Piece chapter 1155 revealed another strong pirate to the fans from the Void Century, and that's none other than Davy Jones. Fans might be surprised to hear the name of Davy Jones, but it is actually brought up in the Long Ring Long Land arc of One Piece. According to the lore around Davy Jones, he's a pirate from the legends who was cursed by the Devil. This pirate was then forced to live on the sea floor, and it is believed that's where he lives to this day. In fact, Davy Jones is considered to be very much alive today.

It is also believed that any sunken ship in One Piece goes immediately to Davy Jones as he lays claim to all that sinks to the sea floor. This is also where Davy Back Fights come from, which is what pirates simply call taking things from their enemies.

In One Piece's Elbaf arc, Oda revealed that Imu actually met Rocks D. Xebec after he invaded the Holy Land 56 years ago. Despite all the manpower in the Holy Land, he made all the way to the Room of Flowers, somehow knowing that it existed. Then, he claimed to be a worshipper of Davy Jones.

In other words, Rocks knew about Davy Jones and worshiped him similar to how some in the world of One Piece worship Nika. Davy Jones may or may not have been a God, but what's more important is that he existed in the past, and given that Rocks spoke of Davy Jones to Imu, he most certainly existed during the Great War from 800 years ago. At the same time, it is quite clear that the demon that cursed Davy Jones was likely Imu.

Given that Rocks worships Davy Jones, it is a clever indication of the fact that the latter was actually stronger. Rocks would never respect or worship anyone weaker than him. Davy Jones must've been a monstrously powerful figure. In fact, it wouldn't be a surprise if Davy Jones is actually Rocks's ancestor from the Void Century.
