Fans initially assumed that Davy Jones and Joy Boy are two different individuals, and that might still be the case. However, newer details that Oda has revealed now add a lot of excitement. Oda recently went on to reveal that the Davy Clan could potentially be a group of Buccaneers. This means that all the descendants of the Davy family might have Buccaneer blood, including Rocks and Teach.

This is quite clear from his appearance, as his hat is way too big to belong to a human, but too small to belong to a Giant or Ancient Giant. He also wasn't born from a Giant nation. Clearly, Joy Boy being a Buccaneer, just like Davy D. Jones, a legendary pirate from the Void Century, raises a lot of questions.

The previous Nika during the Void Century became Joy Boy, but he wasn't born with this name. His real name remains unknown to this day, which means that there is a high chance of Joy Boy's Real name being Davy D. Jones. Hopefully, Oda will shed some light on it soon enough, and fans will find out the answers to all the mysteries surrounding individuals such as Davy D. Jones and Joy Boy.
