Oda Reveals The One Piece Planet Is Called The Blue Planet

Ever since fans got their first look at the map of the One Piece world, they have wondered what exactly the name of the One Piece world is. After all, the world of One Piece looks quite different from the Earth that everyone is used to seeing. The world of One Piece seems bigger, but that's not all. It is divided into four quadrants and has some of the most mysterious seas running across it.

Clearly, there are differences between the usual Earth and the world of One Piece, and all those who assumed that would be right, as Oda himself confirmed that the world of One Piece is simply named the Blue Planet, and not Earth. Here's what Oda had to say about this:

QUESTION: Odacchi, hello! In Chapter 987 was the bridge that the Roger Pirates and Oden saw Tequila Wolf? Or Bourbon Wolf? And what is the name of the planet that Luffy and the others are adventuring?

EIICHIRO ODA: NNN!! What?! You're focusing on that?! Uuuh, the planet is called "Blue Planet". And the bridge that Oden saw... It's Not "Tequila Wolf"!! How did I know that? I won't say it's "Bourbon Wolf". But it's not "Tequila Wolf". That's my answer!! We find out there are 4 bridges in Chapter 1125, so there's no way you could know that in Chapter 967. But looking back, why did I think so? Amazing.

All this is amazing on its own and tells apart the Blue Planet from the earth, but what's even crazier is that the Blue Planet actually has multiple satellites. Fans don't know their names, but based on the Ohara model, the moon is just one of them.

The Winged Races Came To The Blue Planet From The Moon

The Shandians, Skypieans, and Birkans Are Moon People

One Piece fans already know that the Blue Planet is significant when it comes to the world lore. After all, there are actually races that come to the Blue Planet from outer space. This might come as a shock to some, but the winged races of the One Piece world are actually from the moon. As stated by Oda himself in the story, the winged races used to live on the moon long ago, possibly in the city of Birka that existed there.

However, after resources ran out there, they had to descend to what they consider the Blue Planet. They then settled in different parts of the world. The Skypieans settled in Skypiea, while the Birkans settled on a Sky Island that they named after the city of the moon, Birka. The Shandians lived in Jaya, but as fans know, they were eventually shot up to Skypiea due to a Knock Up Stream.

All these secrets are connected to the Blue Planet, and the moons that surround it, and in the Final Saga, Oda will finally tackle all these questions once and for all.
