This article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga.

One Piece is the best-selling manga in the world, and it’s easy to see why. The story’s characters, plot, and world stand out brilliantly compared to everything else out there. Oda has also been able to captivate readers for almost three decades with intricately woven plot threads that continue to unravel with time. However, recent One Piece fans just got bad news from Oda, and it could well end up being the worst news of 2025 yet.

One Piece is Going On Break Not Once - But Twice

There Will Be No New One Piece Chapter on July 27 and August 10

Some devastating news has recently been revealed for One Piece fans. The One Piece manga will be going on not one, but two breaks very soon. This comes right after the manga came back from a break last week.

The next break for One Piece will be on July 27. July 27 was supposed to be when One Piece chapter 1156 dropped, but that will be pushed to the weekend after, that is, August 3rd.

The second break will be in mid-August. To be specific, this break is going to fall on August 10th. This means One Piece Chapter 1157 will hopefully only be pushed back by one week, and instead fall on August 17th.

The first break after One Piece chapter 1155 is Oda's very own, and he's taking a rest. But, the second one is because of a holiday in Japan. During holidays in Japan, no new Shonen Jump Magazine comes out. This happens a few times a year, and the timing is definitely not the best here, as this makes it three breaks way too close to each other.

This is definitely not the best time to be a One Piece manga reader, even though the contents of the manga have been absolutely sensational, but if you thought this was bad, there are worse implications for the future of the One Piece manga.

There is A Possibility of Oda Taking a Break Every 2 Chapters Now

Many Fans Are Concerned About This

All these recurring breaks have brought up something fans were worried would eventually happen, and that is Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, taking a break after every two chapters, instead of every three. For the last year or so, Oda has been taking one break after every 3 chapters, but this wasn’t always the case. Before that, Oda used to only take a break every 4 weeks, and around 2018 Oda used to take a break after every 5 or so chapters.

This shows that Oda has gradually been taking more breaks, and the possibility that he will start only dropping two chapters a month very soon is real. One Piece's last break followed after two chapters, and now, once again, the series is taking a break after two chapters.

This is definitely not something many fans of One Piece are happy about, but it does also have its positives. This allows Oda to rest and not fully burn out like many mangakas out there. It also allows One Piece’s story to extend many more years. If Oda takes a break after every two chapters, One Piece is not ending in under 10 years.
