One Piece is currently in the Elbaf arc, where Oda is focusing quite a lot on the Straw Hat Pirates, preparing them for the Final War that is going to erupt in the coming future. Fans know very well that among all the Straw Hats, Luffy is the one that needs to grow the strongest, and this is clearly because he has to face off against the strongest of enemies. Luffy has access to Gear 5 and three types of Haki already, but that's not enough.

Even though Luffy has an awakened Devil Fruit, he needs another power-up, and Oda has already confirmed that Luffy will get a new power-up soon enough in One Piece. While having an awakened Devil Fruit is certainly great, a new power-up will ensure that Luffy is ready to fight against the likes of Imu and the other monsters, such as the Five Elders. This upcoming power-up is advanced-grade Conqueror's Haki, which Oda will focus heavily on in the Elbaf arc of One Piece.

Luffy may have access to his Devil Fruit Awakening already, but this doesn't mean he's ready to take on the ultimate threat that looms over not just him, but the whole of Elbaf right now. He still needs another power-up after Gear 5, his Devil Fruit awakening, and that is a boost to his Conqueror's Haki. This power was set up by Oda first in the Egghead arc of the story. As fans know, Luffy fought the immortal Five Elders in the Egghead arc of One Piece, but he was unable to do anything against them. No matter what he tried, he failed to do any significant damage to them. Every attack he landed on them proved to be futile as they simply recovered in an instant. This is why Luffy desperately started running instead of fighting.

In Egghead, running was an effective tactic, but it isn't sustainable. If Luffy is to become the Pirate King and beat those of the World Government, he needs to be strong enough to permanently injure the Holy Knights, Five Elders, and Imu. To do this, he needs advanced Conqueror's Haki, and that's exactly what his next power-up is going to be.

In Egghead, Joy Boy's advanced Conqueror's Haki was able to deal damage to the Five Elders permanently. In Elbaf, Scopper Gaban showed advanced Conqueror's Haki that can deal permanent damage to Holy Knights and Elders. This very power must be learned and mastered by Luffy, and he will gain this power-up in Elbaf.

How Luffy's Next Haki Power Will Affect His Growth

Luffy Will Be Stronger Than Ever Before In One Piece

Scopper Gaban has already told Luffy to focus on how he uses his Conqueror's Haki. It is only after effectively focusing on this Haki can advanced applications of it be used. The key here is to send Conqueror's Haki into the soul of the target, and only then will Imu and the others be permanently damaged. Luffy will figure this out in Elbaf, and once he does, he will be ready to beat Imu.

Come the end of Elbaf, Luffy must be incredibly strong, enough to fight Imu, Shanks, Blackbeard, and every other monster that exists in the world. One Piece is edging closer to its end, and right now, Luffy needs powers greater than Devil Fruit awakening, such as the highest grade of Conqueror's Haki.
