Lately speaking, the One Piece world has two major powers, and they are Haki and Devil Fruit. Devil Fruits are the primary power source in One Piece, but Haki is also extensively used in the New World. That said, there are also other powers in One Piece, some of which will become extremely important in the future, and some are already highlighted in the Elbaf arc of the story.

How Haki and Devil Fruits Shape The One Piece Power System

  • Haki Is A Spiritual Power
  • Devil Fruits are Mystical Fruits

Fans know all about Haki and Devil Fruits in One Piece by now. It is clear in the story that Devil Fruits are mystical fruits that offer great powers to those who consume them in exchange for their ability to swim. Devil Fruits can offer a variety of powers, as fans have seen over the years, with some being good, and some being totally invincible.

Meanwhile, Haki is known to be a spiritual power with two main types. Haki can be used through the Color of Observation as a Sixth Sense, or through the Color of Arms as a means to boost both offensive and defensive capabilities and bypass protection offered by the Devil Fruit. A third type of Haki is rare and can only be found in a select. It is the strongest Haki type that only those with Kingly ambition possess, and it is used to intimidate and knock out others, and can even be infused to be use for both offensive and defensive purposes.

Why Oda Has Introduced A New Power That Can Go Even Beyond

The Power Of Love Is A Very Strange Ability

While Haki and Devil Fruits are major powers, Oda himself has confirmed that the Power of Love also exists in One Piece. According to Oda, the power of love can even bypass Devil Fruit, and the first user of this ability that fans saw was Garp. Fans also know that one of the Straw Hats, Sanji, is an avid user of it. In fact, he even destroyed Kizaru’s laser in Egghead using the power of love.

I am the missionary of love! — Scopper Gaban

In Elbaf, Gaban appeared, calling himself the Minister of Love, and he too uses the Power of Love. Gaban is also known to be able to counter immortality, so perhaps that has to do with the power of love as well.

Q: In Volume 45, when Garp punched Luffy, why did it work? Was it Haki after all? Or was it "Love"?

Oda: It is "Love" in this case.

Aside from the Power of Love, another great power that fans have seen in One Piece is the power of science. Egghead was a clear description of it, while Wano served as an opener for the arrival of the Warrior of Science, Sanji. There are many other powers in the One Piece world as well, but it goes without saying that the Power of Love is the most intriguing one out of those that Oda hasn't explained yet.

One Piece chapter 1148 will be out soon, later this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday.
