This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.
Summary
- Zoro is far weaker than fans thought, needing to train his Haki skills to grow
- Zoro isn't Yonko level, gains Enma in Wano, but Gaban confirms he has a ways to go
- Elbaf will provide Zoro the opportunity to master his Haki to fight admirals and Yonko
One Piece is currently in the Elbaf arc, and based on the way that Oda has set it up so far, it appears that this is the arc where a significant portion of the crew will be aiming to get stronger and reach higher heights. Of course, that also includes their best swordsman and the No. 2, Zoro.
One Piece: Oda Just Revealed The Mightiest Pirate Crew In The World, And It's Not The Rocks Pirates
The Rocks pirates are strong, but this one pirate crew was even stronger in One Piece.
This is especially true because Oda recently confirmed that Zoro is actually far weaker than certain fans assumed him to be. He is a bad user of Haki and needs to train his skills a lot to reach higher heights.
Zoro Was Believed By Many To Be Yonko Level
- Zoro Gained Enma In Wano
- Beating King Made Some Believe He Was Yonko Level
The Wano Country Arc was significant for a number of fighters in the Straw Hat Pirates, and given that Zoro has always been one of the main ones, it was big for him as well. Zoro ended up fighting against the likes of Kaido on the rooftop, and he certainly did impress in instances, but the gulf between the two was clear. Later, Zoro learned to tame Enma, and this led some fans to fool themselves into thinking that Zoro was as strong as the Yonko of the One Piece world and comparable to Luffy and Kaido. As always, it didn't take Oda long before he shattered that false argument.
That means I'll be that much stronger once I master it, right? — Zoro
Gaban Confirms Zoro Is Nowhere Close To Yonko Level
Zoro Is Bad At Using Haki
In the Elbaf arc of One Piece, Oda confirmed two things through Gaban. The first is that Zoro is actually a bad user of Haki, given that he doesn't even know half the power that he possesses, and only by knowing and controlling your Haki can it be used to its best. The second is that Zoro is nowhere near the Yonko of the One Piece world, and he needs to train his Haki further.
One Piece: Oda Has Already Confirmed A Second Timeskip After Elbaf
Oda is planning a major new time skip after One Piece's Elbaf arc.
Now is the time for Zoro to understand his Supreme King Haki for the first time and try to gain conscious control over it. Once he does that, he'll be far stronger than before.
How do you expect to support your Captain like that? — Gaban
Zoro Needs To Master Haki To Reach Higher Levels
In order to reach the level of the Admirals and the Yonko, Zoro will need to train his Haki further, which means that he will, eventually, also be able to control Enma better. Right now, Enma is the only reason Zoro is able to bring out his Conqueror's Haki. Without it, Zoro would just be throwing around Haki randomly, as Luffy confirmed when he said it's been leaking at times lately.
But, Elbaf will give Zoro the opportunity to master his Haki, and that means he will learn how to use Supreme King Haki properly, and bring it out when he wants to. As such, Zoro should be able to fight the likes of the Admirals and Yonko at the end of Elbaf. He still wouldn't be Yonko level, but he would, at the very least, be at the base level where he can fight them for an extended period of time.
