This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf arc.
One Piece’s Final Saga has officially started to heat up, with the Elbaf arc introducing the biggest possible threat for the Straw Hat Pirates to take on in battle, Imu. Each member of the Straw Hat Pirates needs to be prepared to take on their biggest foes to date, and for that reason, they need to be at their very best. The swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, Roronoa Zoro, is still consistently growing stronger, but just like everyone else, he isn't at the peak just yet. Zoro aims to surpass Dracule Mihawk, but to do that, he must bring out his latent potential and master all his powers to the fullest.
One Piece: Oda Officially Confirms The True Bloodline Of Shanks And Shamrock
Shanks and Shamrock's bloodline has been revealed by Oda, and One Piece fans are surprised.
In fact, even then, Zoro might need to get even stronger and that's precisely why he will have to gain full control over his ultimate transformation, Asura. So far, Zoro has only shown limited control over Asura, but fans are sure that he can improve upon his usage of the technique further. By the time of his fight against Mihawk, Zoro needs to have fully mastered Asura, the final transformation that Oda has set for him in the story.
Oda Has Already Confirmed Zoro's Ultimate Transformation To Be Asura
Zoro Can Multiply His Power Greatly With Asura
- Zoro first used Asura vs Kaku
- He used Asura with Conqueror's Haki vs Kaido
Unlike Luffy, Zoro doesn't have a Devil Fruit. As such, it is no surprise to know that he doesn't have many transformations. But, Zoro isn't exactly normal either. Inside him, Zoro seems to have some sort of demonic aura, which Oda confirmed long ago in the Enies Lobby arc of One Piece. There, Zoro manifested his demon aura for the first time, and as he did it, even Kaku was scared to his very core.
The next attack will be my strongest. If this doesn't work, it's all down to you. — Zoro to Law
Zoro eventually manifested Asura towards the end of his fight and defeated Kaku in a single strike. But, it was quite clear that his control over Asura wasn't as good as it should've been. Zoro refuses to use Asura in combat unless absolutely necessary. For instance, after Kaku, Zoro only used Asura against Pacifista because the situation was hopeless.
One Piece: Oda Officially Reveals Luffy's Endgame Romantic Partner
Luffy's romantic endgame is a huge mystery, but Oda already hinted at it in One Piece.
Later on, he used it against Kaido, and even then, wasn't able to seriously injure the Yonko. Clearly, Asura is Zoro's ultimate transformation, but at the same time, Oda has kept it for occasional use all this time. In order to get stronger, Zoro must learn to control it properly and bring it out whenever he wants so he can defeat his enemies with ease.
What? I have Conqueror's Haki? — Roronoa Zoro
What Zoro's Final Transformation Means For The Story
Zoro Will Beat Mihawk With Asura
The implications of Zoro mastering Asura are quite clear. It simply gives Zoro the tools he requires to surpass Dracule Mihawk. Fans know very well that even though Zoro has access to all three types of Haki, and even though he can coat his blades in Conqueror's Haki, he still isn't on Mihawk's level. When Zoro blackens his swords, they will get stronger, and on top of that, when he learns to control Asura completely, he will be on Mihawk's level, finally.
Only upon mastering his ultimate transformation, Asura, can Zoro hope to stand his ground against Mihawk. It is only after mastering Conqueror's Haki, blackening his blades, and mastering Asura that Zoro will go on to accomplish his dream of becoming the World's Greatest Swordsman in One Piece.
