Fans of One Piece are well familiar with the two major power systems that Oda has introduced in the story — Devil Fruit and Haki. Ever since Haki made its way properly into the story, fans started arguing over which is the stronger of the two, and which is more important. This question isn’t an easy one to answer, especially as both have their advantages. However, recent reveals in the manga have swung the pendulum towards one side. Oda seems to have confirmed which one is truly the most important power system.

Devil Fruit and Haki Are Two Big Powers
The Main Power Systems in One Piece
The One Piece story has showcased many interesting abilities and the two main power systems that the story currently revolves around are Devil Fruits and Haki. Before the time skip, the major focus used to be, for the most part, Devil Fruits. Devil Fruits are divided into three groups, Paramecia, Logia, and Zoans, with these also having more subtypes.
Meanwhile, Haki only really became relevant at the end of the pre-timeskip around the Summit War Saga. Haki has gained a lot of importance now after the time skip, with each of its subtypes serving a purpose. Armament and Observation Haki are powers that anyone can eventually unlock, but Conqueror’s Haki is a power only a few have.
A question fans have always wondered is which power is stronger, and Oda seems to have finally revealed the answer to that.
Which is Stronger Between Haki And Devil Fruits?
Both are Powerful, But Haki Conquers All
While both Haki and Devil Fruits are very powerful, and useful in their own ways, it seems that Oda has showcased what is really more important - and that’s Haki.
Haki is the perfect counter to Devil Fruits. Armament Haki, to some degree, and most importantly, Conqueror’s Haki, has the power to nullify Devil Fruit abilities completely.
Furthermore, one can’t be a top fighter in the One Piece world if they don’t have Haki, but one can be the strongest with just Haki and no Devil Fruits, with major examples of this being Shanks, Garp, and Roger. None of these characters ever felt the need to have a Devil Fruit. On the other side, there is not a single powerful character who doesn’t have Haki and only relies on Devil Fruits.
Additionally, Oda just revealed that the counter to the immortality showcased by the Five Elders and the Holy Knights is also Haki, probably Conqueror’s Haki, although it's not confirmed yet. This just all puts Haki on a whole other level when it comes to importance.
Furthermore, Haki has no drawbacks, unlike Devil Fruits, which have a massive weakness towards seawater and things derived from it, such as sea stone.

With all of this in mind, it is obvious that Oda has pretty much confirmed that Haki is the ultimate power of the One Piece world, whether fans like it or not.
