This article contains spoilers from One Piece's Elbaf Arc.

Summary

  • Luffy must master Conqueror's Haki to defeat tough foes like the Holy Knights and Imu.
  • Shanks possesses superior Haki to Luffy and can even challenge Admirals.
  • Oda confirms Luffy will gain a new Haki, setting up a potential training arc before facing Shanks.

One Piece is currently in the Elbaf arc, and it is here that Oda is finally setting up a big confrontation between Luffy and Imu. One Piece fans have been waiting for this battle for years now, and while it would've happened eventually, few expected it to happen in the Elbaf arc of the series. Still, big problems exist for Luffy when it comes to taking down Imu. The biggest of them all is the fact that no matter what he does, he cannot damage Imu, at least so far.

Imu is strong, but the biggest issue that Luffy faces is the regeneration and immortality that they possess. That said, Oda specifically had Gaban meet Imu, which means that he now holds the key to damaging Imu, and it is a new Haki. But, despite Luffy's growth as a pirate, fans know very well that one character is still far superior to him, at least so far.

Luffy Needs To Learn How To Damage The Holy Knights, Five Elders, And Imu

  • Luffy Needs To Master Conqueror's Haki
  • Luffy's Haki Is Not Perfect Right Now

Luffy first awakened the power of Conqueror's Haki Infusion in the Wano Country Arc of the story, and it was quite exciting for all the fans to see him go toe to toe with Kaido, one of the Emperors of the Sea. Since then, Luffy has mastered his Haki well enough, but he still doesn't know that Conqueror's Haki had advanced applications. In Egghead, Luffy fought against the Five Elders and couldn't even scratch them. He resorted to pushing them away or holding them at bay. In Elbaf, if Luffy fights the Holy Knights as he is, he isn't going to be able to do any damage and he most certainly won't win, even though he's stronger than them.

Straw Hat Luffy! Pay attention to how you use your Conqueror's Haki. They're definitely not immortal! — Scopper Gaban

This is where Conqueror's Haki comes in. Gaban specifically told Luffy to be mindful of the way he uses his Conqueror's Haki. According to Gaban, if used correctly, Conqueror's Haki can counter the supposed Immortality of the Holy Knights, and the Five Elders as well.

Shanks Is Already A Master Of Haki

Shanks's Haki Is Superior To Most

While Luffy is still learning how to perfect his Conqueror's Haki, there is one individual who can use the most advanced forms of it without much trouble, and that's Shanks. It must be remembered that Shanks is a monster of Haki, and all he has in his arsenal is this one weapon. His Observation Haki is the best fans have seen, possibly along with Gaban, and his Conqueror's Haki is absolutely immense. Shanks can negate an Admiral's power, prevent enemies from using Observation Haki, and do much more with his Haki. His Haki is so impressive that it's actually comparable to Joy Boy's, which makes him a handful of those at the very top.

Boss, calm down! Your own men are struggling! — Red Hair Pirates to Shanks

Redhaired Shanks Is The Strongest In The World

Luffy, strong as he is, isn't anywhere close to Shanks right now, and that's why Oda will definitely give Luffy an opportunity to train his Haki further before the big battle Vs Shanks finally happens. After all, Shanks is the strongest pirate in the world, and if anyone can beat the Elders and even the need Imu right now, it is him.
