One Piece: Oda Confirms Queen To Be Franky's Father In New Vivre Card
Oda reveals the man who abandoned Franky when he was a child. Turns out it is Queen - a member of Kaido's crew.
From major deaths, all the way to new characters being added to the group, this chapter was packed with incredibly exciting plot points for the fans to ponder over for the next few weeks. Curiously enough, Oda also seemingly confirmed that the Five Elders are essentially immortal, with a small flashback panel in the chapter.
The Age of the Five Elders In One Piece
- The Elders Lived 200 Years Ago
- The Elders Haven't Aged In The Last 50 Years
The Five Elders are some of the most important characters in One Piece. They were introduced to the fans before the timeskip, and ever since then, they have been important in terms of maintaining the overarching structure of the world government, which readers always knew was extremely important in the story. When it comes to the Elders, fans know for a fact that they possess tremendous might. This was confirmed rather recently, but, before that, fans believed the Five Elders to be political figures in the One Piece world. This misconception was squashed by Oda in the Final Saga, when all the Five Elders were seen in action on Egghead. At the same time, fans also got to see the many exciting powers that the Five Elders held at their disposal. One of the most incredible abilities that they showcased in the Egghead Arc of One Piece was infinite regeneration. Essentially, when Luffy fought against Saturn, he dealt incredible damage to him, and, at the end of it all, nothing seemingly happened to Saturn. Regardless of how much damage Luffy dealt, he simply appeared as if he never really took any damage at all.
It is useless! These guys cannot die! – Luffy
This was observed with the other Elders as well. All the Elders took quite a lot of damage in battles on Egghead, but, every single one of them managed to recover from their wounds as if they were not even injured in the first place. This led fans to believe that the Five Elders were simply much stronger than they had imagined, and that their strength had a special touch of demonic powers to them. Naturally, when readers saw their Yokai-based powers, it was only natural for them to come to the conclusion that these people are not normal humans, which means normal human lifespans, among other things, do not apply to them.
Over the years, the Five Elders have barely aged. Fans have seen the Elders in many flashbacks in One Piece, and more recently, in Vegaspunk's flashback as well. Around 40 years ago in the world of One Piece, the Five Elders still looked old, just as they do right now. This was essentially a major hint by Oda pertaining to the ages of the Five Elders. However, confirmation was still needed about the ages of the Elders.
How Saint Saturn's Flashback Confirms His Age
Saint Saturn Was Alive 200 Years Ago
In One Piece chapter 1125, fans finally got confirmation about the age of the Five Elders, and now, it has essentially been confirmed that they have been living for centuries upon centuries. In the chapter, fans saw Saturn reminisce about 200 years ago in the One Piece world. 200 years ago, when the Iron Giant attacked Marijoa, it was Saturn who ordered the scientists to research the Giant robot. The scientists then chose to study Emet in secrecy and came to the conclusion that he possesses tremendous powers.
Regardless of what their research led them to, Saturn clearly was alive 200 years ago, and he looked just as he does right now. This essentially confirms that Saturn has been alive for centuries, and along with him, all the other Elders have as well.
One Piece: Oda Just Killed Off A Shocking Major Character
The Egghead Island arc ends with the death of a major character. Here's who just died in One Piece.
This ties back very well to the idea that the Five Elders fought alongside Imu during the Void Century and that they previously fought against Joy Boy as well. The Five Elders are all from exalted families. Every single member of the Elders hails from a very unique family.
I'm sure that this giant robot is going to be a future asset to the World Government! – Saturn, 200 years ago.
For instance, in the case of Saturn, fans know that he comes from the Jaygarcia family. Then, there is the Ethanbaron family, and, along with it, the Topman family as well. There are also the Marcus family and the Shepherd family to consider. These five families make up a significant portion of the Founding 20 who united to fight against the Ancient Kingdom long ago. Naturally, the representatives of these five families were the Five Elders that fans have seen in One Piece in the current timeline as well.
Of course, Imu was present in the Founding 20 as well, being a part of the Nerona family. This essentially means that Imu ended up choosing five of the original Founding 20 as his Elders, and the others were normal Celestial Dragons.
The Death Of Saint Saturn Was Confirmed In One Piece 1125
Imu Passed The Sentence On Saturn
One Piece of Chapter 1125 shocked fans in more ways than just one. The biggest shock in the chapter was the death of none other than Saint Saturn. The reason for Saturn's death was the escape of Joy Boy, Bonney, Kum, and everyone else, from Egghead. Essentially, Imu would not have this failure. To Imu, Vegapunk's message being spread across the world was not of as big a consequence as Joy Boy escaping, and this is likely because Imu is terrified of the power that Joy Boy possesses. Saturn was the one primarily responsible for heading to Egghead and dealing with all the dangers there, and because he failed, he was executed.
A giant circle was formed around him, and flames and lightning emerged to destroy him. These flames and lightning struck him and eventually, burned him down to just his skeleton. Essentially, Saint Saturn is now dead, and with that, one of the Elders has been eradicated quite early into the Final Saga. At the same time, fans saw someone else emerge and take his place as well.
Saint Garling Figarland, who was introduced in the Final Saga, has emerged to take his place as the Godhead of Science and Defense, and it will be interesting to see how he fairs in this position. Needless to say, St Garling is not immortal. But, it is possible that Imu might be able to extend Immortality, among other things, to him. Only time can tell, and fans simply need to wait for the next arc to see all his powers and abilities on full display, especially because One Piece is now at its most pivotal point.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1125, is set to be September 8, 2024.
