In this segment of the story, Oda revealed more deep lore about the world of One Piece and only elaborated upon what was previously stated in the Harley as well. Now, an ancient civilization that was incredibly advanced has been confirmed in the One Piece world, and the exact timeline of when they existed in the world has also been confirmed, which is absolutely massive for the overarching plot of the series, and that goes without saying.
The Three Worlds Of One Piece As Revealed In Elbaf
- Elbaf Introduced The Harley To The Fans
- The Harley Mentions The Three Worlds of One Piece
When it comes to the One Piece world, the idea of multiple worlds having existed didn't hit the fans until the Elbaf arc. Although fans were aware of the idea of the existence of the Void Century, not much else was known about the past of the One Piece world. Above all, fans didn't know how exactly the One Piece world was shaped during and following the Void Century, and most importantly, there was absolutely no clue in the story about what the state of the world was prior to the Void Century.
Our world had been destroyed twice in the past already. — Jarul
Elbaf changed all of that and shocked the fans to their very core as the story introduced the concept of the two destructions of the world. As was revealed in the Elbaf arc of One Piece, the world has previously been destroyed twice, at least that's what the Harley, the Holy scripture of Elbaf, states. When Nico Robin went to the Owl's Library, she went over the Harley herself, and fans got a very good idea of the Three Worlds of One Piece. Here's what the Harley texts state:
First World
Flames engulfed the land, and humans succumbed to their desires, touching the forbidden Sun. The enslaved prayed, and the Sun God appeared. The Earth God was enraged, and together with the serpent of infernal flames, shrouded the world in death and darkness. They would never meet again.
Second World
Breath stirred within the void, and the Forest God sent forth demons. The Sun did nothing but spread the fires of war. The people of the half-moon dreamed, the people of the full-moon dreamed. Humans slew the Sun and became Gods, and the Sea God raged. They Would never meet again.
Third World
In chaos, there is void. The troubled shadow remembers the promised day, and hears the voice of the fractured moon. The Sun God dances and laughs, leading the world to its end. The sun will return once more, and a new dawn will arrive. Surely, this time, they will meet again.
Although there is a lot of information in the Harley texts that has already been broken down well enough by us, One Piece chapter 1144 specifically focused on the First World. When Franky and Ripley continued their journey across the Adam Tree, fans found out more exciting lore about Elbaf. This time around, an old facility was revealed to the fans, and it appears to be incredibly advanced, scientifically speaking. At the same time, the facility itself appears to be the remains of an Ancient Giant of the world, which makes things even more intriguing.
The Timeline Of The First World Is Now Confirmed
The First World Existed About 3000 Years Ago In One Piece
When the old facility that's built inside an Ancient Iron Giant was unveiled to the fans in One Piece chapter 1144, there was, quite rightly, a big shock among the fans. However, what came next was even more shocking. One Piece chapter 1144 revealed to the fans that Vegapunk and Bonney had already toured the facility.
In fact, the former wants to make the facility their new base, or in other words, a massive lab.
Looking around this place, it's gotta be at least 3 millennia old! — Lilith
Vegapunk Lilith has already studied the lab quite well, and it appears that this lab is going to be very important moving forward. According to Vegapunk Lilith, the facility is at least 3000 years old, which is hard to comprehend. Ripley backs this up by stating that even the Giants don't know what exactly the lab is, which essentially confirms that this scientific facility is a relic of a bygone era.
This also tells the fans another thing, and that is the technological advancements of the First World. As fans know, the world of One Piece is set in a post-apocalyptic world. This means that although it appears to be quite primitive, it was actually very advanced once. The Ancient Kingdom itself, which existed around 900 years ago, was extremely advanced and fans know that even Vegapunk, whose mind is said to be 500 years ahead of humanity, cannot comprehend the technological advancements of the Ancient Kingdom.
One Piece: Oda Confirms He Hasn't Revealed The Real Villain Of The Elbaf Arc Yet
Elbaf's real villain has not been revealed yet. Oda has kept it as a surprise in One Piece.
But, it appears that what existed around 3000 years ago was even more advanced. The Iron Giant facility that fans saw from the First World appears to be far more advanced than Emet. At the same time, the Harley also supports the fact that the First World was the most advanced, since fans could even see high-rise buildings in it. Eventually, Oda is most certainly going to reveal the truth about the first two worlds, and fans absolutely cannot wait for that.
What Happened In The First World?
The First World Was Destroyed By The Earth God And Serpent Of Hellfire
Fans know that the world of One Piece has been destroyed twice in the past. At the same time, it is also clear that the First World was destroyed after the appearance of Sun God Nika. When the slaves prayed for the Sun God and he showed up to help them, the Earth God raged and together with the Serpent of Hellfire, destroyed the world. It is likely that the Sun God died and the progress of the world was completely erased.
Fans don't know much else about the First World, but some of its technology definitely survived and made it to the Second World, which is where another major war took place and yet again, the world was destroyed.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1144, is set to be March 30, 2025.
