One Piece chapter 1119 introduced fans to quite a lot of exciting plot points, and quite easily, one of the most exciting parts of the chapter was when the Iron Giant finally made its move. Fans were expecting the Giant to make some sort of impact in the Egghead Island arc sooner rather than later, and it finally happened in the previous chapter.
One Piece: Oda Confirms Bonney As A Haki User
Bonney showcases her haki in One Piece. What types of haki does she have?
In the previous chapter, the name of the Iron Giant was revealed to be Emet. At the same time, fans also know that Emet is going to be incredibly important in the remainder of the arc, but at the same time, he will have another important role to play, which is fulfilling a promise he made to Joy Boy long ago.
Emet Thinking Of Joy Boy
Emet Thought Of Joy Boy Before Attacking Warcury
One of the most important parts of the last few chapters of One Piece has been the revelation surrounding Emet. Fans know that this Iron Giant was created at some point during the Void Century. During this time, Emet was a force to be reckoned with, given his level of strength and that was showcased by Oda in the previous chapter. However, even more than that, fans know that Emet shared a bond with the likes of Joy Boy. In fact, a connection was drawn between Emet and Joyboy immediately after it awoke following the arrival of Luffy on Egghead Island. As soon as Luffy took to using Gear 5, Emet heard the Drums of Liberation and woke up. It was as if the drums sounded out a reminder to him that Joy Boy had returned, and he finally sprung forth and made his move. The more that Luffy utilized Gear 5, the more intense Emet became.
Eventually, he started getting up and going towards Joyboy. When he walked across a burning Egghead, he clearly thought of Joy Boy and apologized. Of course, back then, fans did not know why Emet was apologizing to him. In fact, even right now, it is quite unclear as to why that was the case. However, fans have more clues pertaining to Emet and Joyboy's relationship now than they did before. One Piece chapter 1119 has much to do with that, and fans know for a fact that things are going to get far more interesting from here on out in the story in regards to the bond that these two characters share. One Piece chapter 1119 gave fans a glimpse of a conversation between these two.
Joy Boy, Where did you go? Want to see you. You were there, Joy Boy. Strange. So strange...
For the very first time, fans also got to see a Joy Boy dialogue. Joy Boy clearly mentioned to Emet that when the time comes, he has to do something. Of course, the statement wasn't completed in the chapter, fans can assume that Joyboy was talking about his return and that he would have to help the next Joy Boy when the time is right. This essentially means that Emet still needs to fulfill his promise to Joy Boy in the upcoming chapters, and that in itself adds a lot of intrigue for what is to follow in One Piece.
Emet's Childlike Personality
Emet Looks Like A Very Young Robot Despite Its Size
When one thinks of Emet's connection to Joyboy, they need not look further than his personality. Although this might be lost in translation, in the actual Japanese version of the chapter, Emet talks almost as if he's a kid. This might be a confirmation of the fact that Emet is actually not a grown robot, as one might assume. He could very well be a child robot, which would also make sense, given that Giants, which Emet seems to be modeled after, have a massive lifespan. Essentially, Emet could have been created as a mechanical giant during the Void Century, which likely doesn't age. This means that Emet is technically immortal, and that is how it has survived all these years, but at the same time, it also means that Emet was made into a childlike character. It clearly talked as if it were a child following Joy Boy, and this means Joy Boy could either have been a parental figure to Emet, or perhaps an elder brotherly figure. Whichever way this plot goes, fans know for a fact that Joy Boy was more like a guardian and a guide to Emet than anything else and that it is following him and doing what was asked of him long ago.
One Piece: Emet's True Strength, Explained
The Iron Giant, Emet, showcases its true strength. Only Emet was able to damage Warcury of the five elders in One Piece.
This also adds a lot of layers to the conclusion of the Egghead Island arc. Fans know that Emet is most definitely going to meet Luffy in the upcoming chapters, and when that happens, it opens up room for an exciting conversation between the two. Fans know that Luffy is absolutely fascinated by robots. He is obviously going to swoon after seeing Emet, and while that is certainly going to be fun, fans will also get more context as to how Emet knows Joy Boy and what he was told about Luffy during the Void Century. Fans will also likely get clues about why Emet attacked Marijoa a long ago, and what exactly its true goal is.
Was Emeth Joy Boy's Companion?
Emet And Joy Boy Share A Very Special Relationship
Based on everything that fans have seen in One Piece so far, it is clear to say that Emet was one of Joyboy's closest companions. Fans also know that Zunisha was another one of Joy Boy's companions. However, the relationship that these individuals share is somewhat different. While Zunesha was more of a friend, based on what fans have seen so far, Emet seems to have been someone who looked after Joy Boy, and served under him, despite having a childlike personality. Emet was more like a follower who was taken care of by Joy Boy, and then given an important role.
Emet is a loyal follower who seems to love Joy Boy dearly and is willing to go to any lengths for him. It might also be that Joy Boy was the one who created Emet in the first place. Fans do not know their precise relationship just yet, but they will likely find out more about this sooner or later.
For now, what fans need to keep in mind is that Emet is more like a child who Joy Boy entrusted with an important role, which would suggest that Joy Boy was more like its guardian in one way or another. As to what the role was, it is likely going to be to guide the next Joy Boy to his destiny and fulfill the task that Joyboy himself could not.
Emet, listen! The time is at hand! – Joy Boy
Hopefully, in the upcoming chapters of One Piece, fans will find out a lot more pertaining to these characters and plot points, and finally get a proper confirmation from Oda as to where the Emet plotline is headed to. Things are going to get even more interesting in One Piece as Egghead nears its conclusion.
