Marijoa is Currently Under Attack

Imu Reveals Marijoa is Engulfed in Flames

Marijoa is one of the most secure places in One Piece. After all, some of the strongest characters in the entire series reside there. Imu, the ruler of the world, never leaves it. There are also the Five Elders, known in Japanese as the Gorosei, who are insanely powerful and have crazy Yokai abilities, on top of immortality. The Holy Knights also live there, and they are the Celestial Dragons’ most elite force. The location of Marijoa itself, which is on top of the Red Line, makes it a very challenging place to target.

Despite all that, Marijoa, the Holy Land, is under attack. In One Piece chapter 1149, Imu was in direct communication with the Holy Knights who are currently on Elbaf. Imu seemed quite aggravated, and complained that they were taking far too much time and that the Holy Knights were needed on Marijoa. The reason for this is that Marijoa is currently being engulfed in flames. This trouble was also why Shamrock was called a few chapters ago to return to Marijoa and leave Gunko, Sommers, and Killingham to deal with Elbaf on their own. This is definitely shocking news, and the gravity of the situation makes fans wonder just who is behind this attack.

The Man Behind the Attack on Marijoa - Blackbeard

One Piece Chapter 1126 Reveals Blackbeard’s Intentions

The first culprit fans might think of is the Revolutionary Army. After all, they were involved in an attack on Marijoa not that long ago. So, to many fans, it would definitely make sense if Dragon is behind this attack. However, this doesn’t seem to be likely. If anything, the real culprit is probably using the distraction created by the Revolutionary Army to make their move.

The man likely behind this major attack on the Holy Land is actually none other than Blackbeard. This might surprise some fans, but there is strong evidence behind this.

“They seem to be quite serious about attacking provisions... The bondolas at Red Port continue to break down... And they don't seem to work at all when they actually have food on board.” — Laffite to Blackbeard

In One Piece chapter 1126, there is a panel with Lafitte giving Blackbeard updates on the moves of the Revolutionary Army from Marijoa. In this same panel, Blackbeard orders Lafitte to “get to preparing.” This is definitely a detail fans might’ve forgotten about and could very likely be referring to the most recent attack.

And while Marijoa’s location makes it very hard to attack, the Blackbeard Pirates have a huge asset on their side that makes infiltrating Marijoa easy — Catarina Devon. As some fans might recall, Catarina Devon has the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune. This Devil Fruit allows her to copy appearances and abilities. Catarina Devon has touched Saint Saturn, and thus copied his powers and form, giving them access to Marijoa. Upon touching him, she actually said “Mission complete.” So this is all definitely a part of Blackbeard’s plan.

“ZEHA HA HA HA. Well, stop enjoying the show... And get to preparing.” — Blackbeard in One Piece chapter 1126

The only logical conclusion from all these tidbits left by Oda definitely hints at an attack on Marijoa.

Who Else Could Be the Culprits?

Shanks could Be, But It’s Unlikely

While it’s more likely than not Blackbeard, there could be another possibility, though a lot less likely, and that is Red Hair Shanks. Shanks definitely has the motives to attack Marijoa, but he doesn’t want to fight them there. Shanks wants to wait for them to come out themselves, then he will join the fight.

It could also be a whole other group that fans are not expecting. It’s hard to tell what Oda has in mind when it comes to this attack and how the Celestial Dragons will defend themselves.
