Those who are heavily invested in Shonen Jump would be happy to know that One Piece is finally going to get some competition again. After months of hiatus, one of the most popular manga series, Hunter x Hunter, is officially returning. Yoshihiro Togashi has confirmed the return of the manga again, and the series will rival One Piece for the throne of the best story in Jump once again.

Earlier this week, Yoshihiro Togashi took to X to announce to the fans that he's returning with more Hunter x Hunter chapters. Togashi has been working on Hunter x Hunter consistently over the last two years now, although he releases chapters in batches. The last batch dropped in late 2024, and the series then took a break, as usual.

Now, Hunter x Hunter is set to return, and Togashi recently confirmed that he was working on the backgrounds for chapter 413 of the manga. Togashi didn't specify a return date for Hunter x Hunter, but fans are sure that it'll be at some point later this year, or at worst, early 2026. If the usual pattern is followed, Togashi will likely drop 10 chapters before going on hiatus again, which means Shonen Jump will get over two months of Hunter x Hunter content.

One Piece Is Rivaled Only By Hunter X Hunter

Oda And Togashi Are Two Of The Best Mangaka

Right now, One Piece doesn't have any rivals in Shonen Jump. It is the best series that Jump has, and by far. No other story has the depth that One Piece carries, and the cast is leagues above the others. However, with the return of Hunter X Hunter, One Piece has some competition now. Oda has deep respect for Togashi, and his words of encouragement helped him get motivated on many occasions in the past. Oda himself would relish the idea of going up against Togashi once again in Jump, but more than anything, he would be happy for the return of a dear friend.

What Hunter X Hunter's Return Means For Shonen Jump

Shonen Jump is very shaky right now, especially after the conclusion of heavy hitters, such as Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, and with the impending conclusion of Sakamoto Days. Hunter x Hunter returning would be great for the magazine, given that it is a series that millions are interested in, and is tried and tested. Fans all over the world are waiting for the return of this legendary manga, and hopefully, it will be sooner than anticipated.

One Piece Chapter 1158 will be out next week, at 12AM JST on Monday. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1158 is August 31, 2025. Hunter x Hunter doesn't have a precise release date yet.
