It is here that many fans started considering One Piece as not just a great series, but possibly the best of all time, and the sales are there to show for it. One Piece has over 550 million copies sold worldwide, but before Marineford, the sales weren't mind-blowingly high. One Piece's Marineford arc saw sales skyrocket, and even backlog sales were absolutely incredible. The series reached heights that it had never touched before, and to this day, that record hasn't been matched.

It isn't all about the sales, though. Marineford was absolutely spectacular and even without 90% of the main cast, it managed to deliver an experience unlike any other arc. Now, it appears that Oda is going to do another Marineford arc, although this time, under different circumstances.

As fans know very well, Marineford was destroyed in the Summit War which was fought between the Whitebeard Pirates and the Navy. The World Government then decided to make New Marineford, their new HQ, in the New World. Not only did it show that the Marines are resilient, but it also sent a message to the Yonko of the New World that the Marines are now looking to operate in the New World with more vigor than ever before. New Marineford is a symbol for the Navy, but it isn't one that will last long.
