  • Shanks' twin may be the new Supreme Commander of the Gods' Knights, indicating a hierarchy shift.

Chapter 1136 of the One Piece manga is already being called one of the most important chapters in the history of the franchise. The reason for this has to do with the incredible and unexpected lore reveals that have changed the foundations of everything that fans previously thought about the ancient world, as well as revealing information about key players as the series officially enters its Final Saga.

One such reveal had to do with the mysterious characters fans had been seeing since Chapter 1134 of One Piece, which have just been confirmed to be Gods' Knights, despite the fanbase already believing this to be the case. The one whose name finally got revealed was Gunko and many fans believe that she has some sort of connection to the mysterious ruler of the world, Imu. So, let's take a look at what this could mean.

Loki was the subject of one of One Piece's best reveals, and Chapter 1136 finally reveals how he became known as the Accursed Prince!

Gunko's Possible Connection To Imu

How They Could Be Directly Connected

Gunko's First Appearance

One Piece, Chapter 1134, "The Owl Library"

Imu's First Appearance

One Piece, Chapter 906, "The Holy Land Mary Geoise"

Admittedly, the possible connection that Imu and Gunko share is born from a theory that's quite a stretch. Though the real extent or nature of her powers is currently unknown, whatever has been seen is strikingly similar to Imu's own power and many think it's pretty close to Doflamingo's string ability granted to him by the Ito Ito no Mi Devil Fruit.

Gunko's mouth is completely wrapped up in bandages and Chapter 1136 shows that she has the ability to create something akin to these bandages from her arms. The reason why these powers have caught the attention of fans is because the shape at the end of them is an arrow, which is very similar to the shadowy attack Imu used to kill King Cobra and hurt Sabo during the Reverie arc. Both of these characters can seemingly form an arrow and control it away from their body, twisting and circling it with incredible speed and maneuverability.

This has prompted some in the fan base to wonder if there is a direct connection between the two. Since Imu is essentially the leader of all the Celestial Dragons and one must also be a Celestial Dragon to be a Gods' Knight, some have gone so far as to think that Gunko might just be Imu's daughter, which has a bit of reasoning behind it considering how she's present on Elbaf, accompanied by Garling's probable son, who may just be the Supreme Commander of the faction.

However, this likely isn't the case, since she was shown to be given orders by Shanks' twin, which wouldn't make any sense if she was the daughter of the most powerful person in the world. Conversely, the other, and more probable, theory is that Gunko is likely the person who is shown to be present in the Chamber of Flowers, delivering news and bowing to Imu. It seems that no one below the Gorosei and the Gods' Knights know of Imu's existence, so she could be a likely candidate for this role.

Where Does Shanks' Twin Fit Into All This?

The New Supreme Commander of the Gods' Knights

At the current moment, it is all but confirmed that the person accompanying Gunko on Elbaf is Shanks' twin/clone, raising the question about where he could fit into this equation if Gunko and Imu are directly related. He is likely the new Supreme Commander of the Gods' Knights after Garling's ascension to the rank of one of the 5 Elders, making his son the most likely candidate to take up his former mantle.

When Gunko made her full reveal in Chapter 1136, she began to suffocate the giant Wolf and even suggested killing Loki then and there for his insolence. However, Shanks' twin brought her arrogance down a peg, stating that she shouldn't get ahead of herself. Seeing how she didn't take advantage of the situation and let Loki live despite her wishes, it can be seen that his authority supersedes hers, meaning she can only carry out actions if he approves of them first.

Don't get ahead of yourself, Gunko.

Because of this, it's highly likely that Gunko has no direct connection to Imu and that Shanks' twin is most likely the new Supreme Commander of the Gods' Knights, which is a theory that most fans already believed. After Imu and the 5 Elders, his word carries the most weight behind it, making him the greatest authority in the entire World Government after the two previously mentioned ones.
