The One Piece was first announced during the Jump Festa event in December 2023, and since then fans have found out bits and pieces. On One Piece Day last year, a ton of exciting information about it was revealed, and it is clear that this is one of the most ambitious projects ever and one that will, undoubtedly, become the greatest anime of all time by fixing the errors of the current One Piece anime that's adapted by Toei Animation.

One Piece is the greatest manga of all time, so it is only logical that it deserves the greatest anime adaptation. That's exactly what Wit Studio is doing now, and fans can only hope that it delivers the quality that is expected of it. If that's the case, then 2026’s best anime is already decided, and not just that, but The One Piece would also go on to sit atop the throne of the greatest anime of all time, and deservedly so.

Why The One Piece Anime Is Absolutely Necessary

One Piece Will Become Bigger Than Ever Before

If there's one complaint that the fans of One Piece have had about the franchise, it is that the anime doesn't do the manga justice. The One Piece anime has always been plagued by different issues. At times, it suffered from poor animation quality, and at others, it flat-out refused to follow Oda's vision. It would be disingenuous to say that One Piece hasn't improved in terms of animation quality.

Some of the best-produced episodes in recent anime come from One Piece and in this department, it now competes with the best anime in the entire world. But, it still has its flaws that are, unfortunately, jarring. One Piece suffers from pacing issues and it has gotten to a point where the anime has more episodes than chapters in the manga, and that's unacceptable.

To be clear, this isn't exactly the fault of those working on the series. It's just how things are at the moment. Added to that is the fact that the One Piece often deviates from the story that Oda wants to tell, and thus isn't a good depiction of things. Wit Studio's The One Piece will fix that issue once and for all, and give fans a true masterpiece that will be remembered for ages. It will be better animated, have way fewer episodes, and will be paced incredibly well. Above all, it will be a modern take on One Piece that will open it up to newer audiences.

One Piece Chapter 1159 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 31. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1159 is September 7, 2025.
