God Valley is a part of the magnificent world of One Piece that Oda has slowly crafted over the decades. Oda recently brought it into the fold, during the events of the Wano Country arc and fans instantly knew that it would be relevant to the main plot going forward.

That is precisely what has happened as, during the Reverie, the fans were introduced to a character linked to God Valley. At the same time, a lot more lore was provided about this island recently, which answers the many questions that the fans have had lingering in their heads about the mysterious place that is God Valley.

What Is God Valley?

One Piece Garp God Valley

God Valley was an island in the world of One Piece that existed decades ago. It is unknown where this island was actually located. While many assume for this to be in the Grand Line, that actually has never been confirmed in the story. All fans know is that it was in one of the seas of the world and that Celestial Dragons were present there. Fans have not yet seen what exactly this island looked like, however, judging from the brief silhouetted appearance of it, it appears that God Valley was marked by steep hills from all sides, with the valley being at the center of it. The name God Valley itself implies that it is a valley that was ruled by the Gods, and the Gods of the One Piece world are none other than the Celestial Dragons themselves.

This could mean that this was a place for the Celestial Dragons to reside on the Blue Sea and the only other place that they would go to, other than the Holy Land of Marijoa. For the longest time, fans were confused as to why the Celestial Dragons were on God Valley on the day that Rocks and his pirate crew attacked. Now, it appears that they finally have an answer to that question, thanks to the major revelation being made by Oda in One Piece chapter 1086.

The God Valley Incident

The God Valley Incident is a major war of massive proportions that took place in the world of One Piece nearly 38 years ago. Around this time, the Rocks Pirates were the supreme power on the seas of the One Piece world. In fact, there were no Yonko at this point. Rocks was the only major threat who ruled the entirety of the vast oceans by himself and, at times, his group often acted as a terrorist organization. Rocks intended to be the King of the entire world, and this was made public, given the fact that Sengoku also knew about his ambitions. Under him were some of the most dangerous and powerful pirates such as the future Yonko Big Mom, Kaido, and even Edward Newgate.

If that wasn't enough, the likes of Shiki, Captain John, Silver Ax, and even Wang Zhi, were under him. 38 years ago, Rocks decided to attack God Valley where Celestial Dragons were present, and there, Rocks met his end, as he was met by the combined forces of Roger and Garp. The pirate and the Navy man joined forces to take down this monster, indicating that neither of them was powerful enough to beat him individually. The Rocks Pirates, given their infighting, were also destroyed and it isn't even known if all of them took part in the battle or not.

Rocks was eventually defeated and Garp was given all credit for it, being named the Hero of the Marines. On this fateful day, Kaido was given the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryuu by none other than Big Mom and the two went their own ways. Surprisingly enough, God Valley was completely erased from the face of the earth, somehow. Right now, very few people in the world know about the existence of God Valley and even fewer know that this place was where Rocks met his end.

The Figarland Family And God Valley

As revealed in the previous chapter, God Valley was ruled by the King of one of the royal families of the world and that is none other than the Figarland Family. The Figarland Family is a Celestial Dragon bloodline, meaning they stem directly from the Founding 20 and are am among the line of Kings who joined forces to destroy the Ancient Kingdom and swore in front of the Empty Throne later on. The Figarland Family appears to be one with incredibly strong fighters. 38 years ago, they were the rulers of God Valley and this means that Celestial Dragons actually lived on God Valley under the rule of Saint Garling Figarland.

Where exactly he lived and why he chose to be on an island in the Blue Sea is not known just yet, however, what the fans do know is that he was a cruel ruler back in his days, and his views on humans were no better than what fans have already seen from the vast majority of the Celestial Dragons in the world of One Piece. The God Valley Incident changed the lives of the Figarland Family forever.

For starters, Saint Garling Figarland somehow survived and he was later moved to the Holy Land of Marijoa, where he has been ever since. He appears to be the leader of the Holy Knights of the World Government. As fans have been told already, the Holy Knights are a powerful order of Celestial Dragons who handle judicial matters among the Celestial Dragons. As such, they have the power to pass judgment and exact punishment even on the Celestial Dragons themselves. Saint Garling Figarland enjoys this role quite a lot, as seen in one piece chapter 1086.

The Survivors Of God Valley

As mentioned earlier, the Figarland Family were the survivors of the God Valley Incident as Roger and Garp's team up inadvertently ended up saving the Celestial Dragons. It can be assumed that they were safely transported to the Holy Land of Marijoa somehow and that is where they have been living ever since. Saint Garling Figarland is one character that fans know is a survivor of the God Valley Incident. It has already been made clear that he was the King of God Valley at the time. In One Piece chapter 1086, he was seen passing judgment on Saint Donquixote Mjosgard for standing up for the Fishmen and the Merfolk.

Curiously, Saint Garling Figarland is not the only person who survived the events of the God Valley. Shanks is another character who belongs to the Figarland Family and survived the God Valley Incident. Although this may come as a surprise to many fans, One Piece Film: Red confirmed that the Roger Pirates found Shanks in a treasure chest on God Valley. Roger and the crew decided to raise him and Shanks ended up becoming Roger's very own apprentice. In Film Red, the Gorosei also went on to say that Uta could be a member of the Figarland Family, since she is the daughter of Shanks.

This means that Shanks himself is of the Figarland Family bloodline and that he carries the blood of Saint Garling Figarland in his veins. Surely, the Figarland Family is going to be extremely important in the story moving forward, given that Shanks is a character that bears ties to it. For now, fans have to sit back patiently and wait for Oda to give them more information related to this incredible family.
