One Piece Episode 1140 Made Fans Angry
One Piece Fans Were Unhappy With Toei Animation
- One Piece Episode 1140 was a letdown
- Toei Animation disappointed fans with the quality
When the episode was released, fans were anything but happy. Viewers were displeased with what they saw in Episode 1140. Toei Animation ruined what was the most important moment for Bonney. The young girl grew up on stories of Nika, and she believed that he would save her.
In the anime, Bonney was staring at Luffy, but it lacked detailing. Luffy was too far from Bonney, leading to lesser details. The new One Piece opening has the exact same scene, and it looks much more vibrant and impactful. Fans didn't hold back in their criticism of Toei because they know what the studio is capable of doing, and for it to ruin such an important moment feels like an act of betrayal.
The scene doesn't nearly have the same impact as it did in the manga, which is extremely disappointing. Fans had been waiting for months to see the scene animated, but Toei let them down. Additionally, the pacing was poor. The studio should take fans' feedback seriously and make sure that such a thing never happens again.

The One Piece manga has been serializing since 1997, which is why it's hardly surprising that it has accumulated more than 1100 chapters. The manga releases new chapters almost on a weekly basis, so the count keeps on increasing. However, Eiichiro Oda has begun taking more breaks because of his ill health. Hopefully, he takes a long break, as it will help him recover. The One Piece manga is available to read on the Shonen Jump+ app and Viz Media's official website.
