Some fans may have been surprised by Jewelry Bonney's transformation, but Oda repeatedly dropped hints that she would gain access to the power sooner or later, and it finally happened in One Piece Episode 1161. After Luffy regained his strength, he immediately used Gear 5th, and once again, the Drums of Liberation began to sound. Dorry and Brogy heard the rhythm as well, and they started dancing. Bonney was on the ship watching the giants as they struck the same pose as Kuma.
Bonney still wasn't confident, but after some reassurance from Luffy, she decided to give it a go and used Distorted Future. After the smoke had faded away, Bonney emerged in her own Nika form. As previously stated, her appearance fooled almost everyone. They believed that there was more than one Nika.

Sanji and Franky immediately rushed towards his location and used two powerful attacks. Bonney was hesitant at first, but she followed up with an attack of her own. The impact of these attacks allowed Luffy to send Mars back to Egghead Island.
Emet was also involved in the episode, and it came in clutch. When Topman Warcury was rushing towards the ship, Emet emerged from the water and sent the Elder flying. Thus, saving the ship from being demolished.

For years, Bonney has had to endure living away from her father and dealing with nefarious characters from the World Government. When she finally entered the Nika form, Bonney not only felt free, but she also fulfilled her dream of being like Nika.

It's highly likely the person with whom Emet was talking to was Joyboy. It is possible that the legendary character will make an appearance in Emet's flashback. When Joyboy told Emet to wait for the right time, it's possible that he wanted the robot to use some kind of weapon at the right time. In fact, he has called the Yonko 'Joyboy,' indicating that it believes the figure has returned. Luffy's heartbeat makes the sound of the Drums of Liberation whenever he enters Gear 5th, which would have confirmed Emet's beliefs.
Since Luffy is a pinch, it makes sense for Emet to defend him. It's likely that Emet will make use of the weapon and push back the Five Elders, so that the Straw Hat Pirates can safely get away. However, it is worth remembering that the Five Elders are immortal and have the power to regenerate from any injury, no matter how fatal.
