For years, Bartholomew Kumar was considered nothing more than a side villain who was going to have very limited involvement in the series. However, the Egghead arc is going to change the perception of fans. In Episode 1129, fans learned about Kuma's lineage. He was confirmed to be a part of the Buccaneer race, which made enemies of the World Government due to their actions.
Kuma's father, Clapp, was also a Buccaneer, and the World Government didn't waste time sending Cipher Pol agents after learning of his existence. Clapp begged them to leave his wife and his kids alone, but they refused. Ultimately, Kuma and his parents ended up as slaves in Marijoa. To make matters worse, they were separated and given to different Celestial Dragons.
Not long after being torn apart, Kuma lost his mother. Clapp tried to cheer him up with the dance performed by those who believed in Nika, the warrior of liberation. Unfortunately, he was shot dead by a Celestial Dragon who found him noisy. After dealing with two massive setbacks, Kuma was selected to be a target in the Native Hunting Competition of the Celestial Dragons. They considered Kuma a major attraction as he was part of the Buccaneer race.

After escaping from the island, Kuma will need to find a place to restart his life. So, that will be something fans need to keep an eye out for.
