Why Is One Piece Episode 1117 Being Delayed?

One Piece Anime Will Air A Recap Episode

Normally, One Piece Episode 1117 would have been released on August 25th, 2024, but, the anime will air a recap episode instead. This break comes before Sabo takes the spotlight in the anime. For the uninitiated, Toru Furuya, the voice actor for Sabo, was involved in a very indecent incident with a fan. After the details came to light, Toru Furuya issued an apology and stepped down from his voice-acting role. This means at present there is no one to voice Sabo. The official One Piece social accounts have not made any announcement regarding the matter, and a new voice actor has not been identified yet.

So, it is likely that the anime wants to sort out the situation, as they can't release an episode where Sabo is mute. One Piece Episode 1117 will probably include Imu, whose voice actor has not been named either. As the story is about to enter a sensitive period, it makes sense for the anime team to take their time before selecting an individual. However, the good news is that the One Piece anime will be back the following week, and Episode 1117 will air on September 1.

When Will The Voice Actors Be Announced?

The One Piece Day Could Have Some Big Announcements

The announcement regarding the voice actors will most likely be made on the One Piece Day, a two-day event that will take place on August 10 and 11. Fans have eagerly been waiting for the event, as it will include many announcements about future projects related to the franchise. One of the most anticipated projects is the remake of the original anime, which is being produced by Wit Studio. Initially, there was much skepticism around the announcement, but slowly fans warmed up to the idea. George Wada, the president of Wit Studio, even clarified the reasons behind the remake.

He stated that the anime was lacking two main things:

  • Pacing
  • Format

Due to technological advancements, young people who are used to watching modern anime might find the visuals of One Piece, which started airing 25 years ago, difficult to watch because of the different format.

The One Piece anime is notorious for prolonging episodes, making it a hassle to sit through them. Sometimes a single episode would adapt a few pages from one chapter, and the rest would be unnecessary filler. Wit Studio will look to eliminate this problem with its adaptation. Wit Studio will have a distinctive advantage as it won't have to worry about catching up to the manga. It can adapt multiple chapters per episode and still churn out a quality adaptation.

The original One Piece anime uses the 4:3 format, which is outdated. This can deter new fans, so the remake will tackle this issue as well. In conclusion, it will help One Piece reach a bigger audience, boosting the popularity of the series further.

What Can Fans Expect From The Upcoming Episodes

Kuzan, Garp, And Many Big Names Will Be In Action

Monkey D. Garp laughing

The One Piece anime is currently transfixed on the events taking place in Hachinosu, the territory of Blackbeard. In Episode 1114, Monkey D. Garp and the other young Marines began their attack, which caught the pirates off-guard, and they were unable to fight back. Just when it seemed Koby would get home scot-free, Kuzan appeared and froze Hibari. Kuzan made it clear that he would not let Koby leave the island. The episode ended there, so the next one will showcase the battle between Kuzan and Garp.

From what has been shown so far, it looks obvious that Garp is likely to win the fight. But Kuzan can turn the tide with his Devil Fruit. He can instantly freeze a person or their limb, effectively rendering them incapable of fighting. Aside from these two, there are more notable fighters on the island who will be eager to join the action.

Several other Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates are already confirmed to be on the island. So far, they haven't involved themselves in the fight, but it would be unwise to assume that they will not provide Kuzan with some much-needed backup. Garp mainly brought young and inexperienced Marines with him to Hachinosu. His decision to do so could backfire spectacularly as his opponents are veterans who have a lot of experience fighting. The Titanic Captains will beat the young Marines hollow after which they can focus on helping Kuzan.
