This article contains spoilers for One Piece's Elbaf Arc.
Summary
- Elbaf arc was expected to be Usopp's time to shine, but he hasn't had a major role yet.
- Fans are disappointed with Usopp's lack of involvement in the Elbaf arc in One Piece.
- Usopp may have his moment in the Final War arc instead of Elbaf.
With the Elbaf Arc well underway, One Piece fans are finally getting the chance to see an arc that has been years in the making. Being mentioned as early as Little Garden, Elbaf has always been an arc that many members of the community have had high hopes for, dreaming of the potential it could have for the fledgling Straw Hat crew. Now that the arc is finally happening, fans are excited to see which prospective plotlines and theorized story arcs will finally have a chance to see the light of day in the land of the Giants.
In particular, fans have often believed that Elbaf would be a major place of development for the sniper of the Straw Hat crew, Usopp. Since he has always had a close relationship with the ideals of the Giants and dreamed of visiting the island, the Elbaf Arc of One Piece was something that many fans predicted would be closely tied to Usopp, potentially providing him with a new character arc or power-up. However, so far, Usopp has actually done very little in the arc as a whole, leaving fans with an entirely new question: if Usopp isn’t going to have his moment in Elbaf, when will he have his time to shine?

The God's Knights are exceptionally powerful and only a few One Piece characters can stand up to their might.
Elbaf Seemed Like It Was Meant To Be Usopp's Arc
Fans Have Been Let Down By Usopp's Performance In The Arc So Far
Early in the series, when the Straw Hat crew first encountered the former captains of the Giant Pirates on Little Garden, Usopp learned of the culture of the Giants of Elbaf. Full of great warriors and legendary heroes, the courage and ideals of the Giants struck a chord with Usopp, leading to him adopting a new goal in One Piece; to visit Elbaf, the land of the Giants. Based on this, many fans have predicted that Elbaf would be Usopp’s arc, giving the weakest, and often most underappreciated, Straw Hat a time to shine, as well as potentially giving him a major power-up and a fight scene, something he hasn’t had in a fairly long time.
I am Usopp, a brave warrior of the sea! - Usopp
However, besides a touching moment with Luffy where the two gaze upon the land of Elbaf for the first time, Usopp, so far, hasn’t done too much in One Piece's Elbaf Arc. Outside the shenanigans at the beginning of the arc with Road, once Usopp reached Jarul and the other Giants, he has been constantly partying and goofing around with the Giants, rather than engaging in any of the major plotlines of the arc so far. From here, as of now, it feels like, despite having the potential to be one of Usopp’s biggest arcs, characters like Robin, Franky, and of course, Luffy, have had far more time in the spotlight with interesting individual character arcs.
If Not Elbaf Which Arc Will Be Usopp's Time To Shine?
Usopp May Have To Wait Until The Final War
- Usopp Hasn't Done Much In Elbaf So Far
- The Final War May Be A Better Time For Usopp
As of now, Elbaf hasn’t been Usopp’s arc like many fans have originally hoped. However, there are plenty of opportunities for the future of One Piece to give Usopp his well-deserved chance to shine. Mainly, it is possible that Usopp’s true time to shine won’t come until his final battle with Van Augur of the Blackbeard Pirates, where he can prove his superiority as a sniper.
One Piece: The Other Victim Of Toei Animation's Additional Scenes
Sanji isn't the first One Piece character whose reputation was tainted by Toei Animation.
Going along with this, the Final War Arc of One Piece could potentially be more of an Usopp arc than Elbaf could have ever been. While Elbaf potentially has some great moments of potential for the sniper, the Final War may be the arc where Usopp truly proves that he has become a brave warrior of the sea, completing his goal as a pirate. Although he could potentially accomplish something similar, especially with the God’s Knights enacting their plan to kidnap the Giant children, it may be a bit too early for Usopp to achieve his dreams, making the Final War a better place for this.
Usopp Still Has Time To Do Something Big In Elbaf
He May Play A Major Role In Defeating The God's Knights
Still, although the Elbaf arc is well underway, it is most likely far from being over. Due to this, there is still plenty of time for Usopp to have his own moment, potentially even a personal battle with one of the God’s Knights. With him and his allies confronting Gunko at the end of the latest chapter, all hope isn’t lost for Usopp’s chance to do something in this arc, though it may be a bit too little too late.
If there's a whole village of warriors like them, someday I'd like to go there! - Usopp discussing the village of Elbaf
As of now, even if Usopp does something major in One Piece’s Elbaf Arc, it’ll be hard to make Elbaf truly feel like Usopp’s arc. However, that doesn’t mean that Usopp won’t have his moment before the end of the series, with the Final War Arc having just as much, if not more, potential for Usopp. In the end, Usopp deserves his time to shine, though One Piece fans may have to wait for it just a little while longer.
