Demon Slayer Is a Successful Shonen Jump Manga
One of the Best-Selling Manga Series of All Time
- Demon Slayer is one of the best Shonen Jump manga series.
- Fans want more Demon Slayer manga content.
It’s been ages since Demon Slayer released a new chapter after the manga series concluded in May 2020. Fans have been patiently waiting for any new content from series creator Koyoharu Gotouge, whether it's bonus or special chapters or even spin-offs about the manga series. This proves that the hype about Demon Slayer is still alive, even after Tanjiro Kamado’s journey has long been finished.
Throughout Demon Slayer’s run, the manga series was consistent in ranking among the top-selling titles not just in Japan, but around the world. To this day, the manga is still selling copies, almost as if the series never ended. And now that the first of the Infinity Castle movies has been released, the manga has naturally made a comeback, driving both manga and merchandise sales.
As of July 2025, Demon Slayer has already sold 220 million copies worldwide, bringing Tanjiro closer to Naruto in the all-time rankings with just 23 volumes. It is still far from beating Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, but the speed at which Demon Slayer reached this milestone is staggering, proving just how impactful the series is globally. The anime adaptation of Demon Slayer is not yet over, so sales are expected to increase even further.
Eiichiro Oda Says Demon Slayer Heals People
Oda Is Deeply Touched With Demon Slayer
Getting a compliment from Eiichiro Oda is no small feat, as the creator of One Piece is widely respected in the manga industry. He is a living legend, and his insights and high standards of storytelling make his praise even more meaningful. While Oda has been vocal about his love for Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball, he also openly admires Demon Slayer.
In fact, Eiichiro Oda once sent a message personally praising Demon Slayer, citing reasons why the manga was incredibly amazing. According to Oda, Demon Slayer deeply touched him, saying this is how he wants manga to be. Most probably, it captured emotions Oda hadn’t felt for a manga in years, leaving a lasting impact on him. In addition, Oda said that Demon Slayer has saved many people’s feelings.
At Jump, Demon Slayer was really amazing. I enjoyed how it was able to save the feelings of so many people. Absolutely superb work. This is how I want manga to be. It touched me, somehow!
-Eiichiro Oda
This is a massive endorsement from Eiichiro Oda, and the fact that he says Demon Slayer is how he wants manga to be speaks volumes about the storytelling quality of Koyoharu Gotouge. However, despite Oda’s endorsement, fans know that there are some critics who remain skeptical about Demon Slayer, saying the manga is relatively short and simple and that it is only carried by ufotable’s animation.
Demon Slayer Recently Surpassed One Piece
Demon Slayer Returns to the Top of the Ranks
With the release of the first Infinity Castle movie, the Demon Slayer manga returns to the Oricon Weekly Rankings, surpassing not just One Piece, but also Chainsaw Man, The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity, Ao Ashi, Black Clover, Berserk, and even Kinnikuman. It is currently in second place, just below Kaiju No. 8, after it dominated the August rankings and left One Piece in 8th place.
The Demon Slayer manga has made a successful return, and this resurgence proves the series’ lasting popularity. It won’t be a surprise if the manga makes a comeback once more after the second Infinity Castle movie is released.
