The existence of gods is not new to the world of One Piece. While at one point, One Piece was seen as a rather whimsical story with pirates chasing great glory, with time Oda has woven in a very intricate storyline involving powerful, corrupt government factions and even Gods.

One Piece's main character, Monkey D. Luffy, is actually the Sun God Nika, one of the fiercest deities in the world and the Warrior of Liberation. Luffy is not the only God that exists in the One Piece world. Oda has already established a lot of powerful Gods in the story, and one of the most intriguing ones of them all is the Earth God. While the identity of the Earth God might remain a secret for some more time, Oda has already implied their true secret with the major reveals made across the Egghead and Elbaf arc of One Piece. As is quite clear in the story already, the Earth God is none other than the Sovereign of the World, Imu.

One Piece Revealed The Earth God In The Harley

The Harley Features The World Lore Of One Piece

One Piece Earth God Harley elbaf

The existence of the other Gods of the One Piece world first came to the surface in the Skypiea arc. Back then, Oda revealed in the Kalgara flashback the existence of some powerful deities worshipped by the Shandians. It was revealed that the God of Rain, the God of Sun, the God of Earth, and the God of the Forest were worshipped in this ancient culture. Unfortunately, at the time, these details were brushed off as merely superstitions among the Shandians. Towards the end of the Skypiea arc, all the Shandians prayed to the Sun God for mercy, and this is where Luffy ended up defeating Enel. Clearly, Oda was juxtaposing Luffy with the Sun God way back in the Skypiea arc of the story.

In the Wano Country arc, the Sun God officially descended upon the world properly, as Luffy awakened his Devil Fruit. It was also revealed that the real name of his Devil Fruit was the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Nika is known to be the Sun God of the world, which confirms the existence of other Gods as well.

In the Elbaf arc, the Harley was revealed for the very first time, which told the lore of the One Piece world. In the Harley, Oda also revealed the existence of other Gods. The author went on to directly mention the God of the Forest, who was also mentioned way back in Skypiea, as well as the Sea God, who fans already know to be Princess Shirahoshi, who is the mermaid princess and holds the powers of Poseidon. Most importantly, Oda mentioned the Earth God as well, and this God too was first mentioned way back in the Skypiea arc of the story.

The Earth God raged, and together with the Serpent of Hellfire, shrouded the world in death and destruction. — Harley

According to the Harley, the God of Earth and the Serpent of Hellfire clashed with the Sun God, and this led to the destruction of the world long ago in an era termed as the First World. It is quite clear that the Earth God was alive during the Second World as well, and here too events eventually led to the destruction of the world. The Third World is set in the current timeline of One Piece, and clearly, the Earth God lives.

Imu Holds The Power Of The Earth God According To The Harley

Imu Power Earth God harley one piece

Just like the God of the Sun, the Earth God is also a very powerful entity in the world of One Piece. It must be remembered that in the First World, the Earth God was the one who, together with the Serpent of Hellfire, went on to destroy the entire world. In a way, the God of Earth might be even more overpowered than the Sun God, and that perfectly fits the personality of Imu.

Most importantly, the reason why Imu is clearly the Earth God is because of the established order of the Celestial Dragons of the World Government. As is quite clear in the story, the World Government is led by Imu, who has Five Elders under him. These Five Elders are also known as the Five Elder Stars or Five Elder Planets. Clearly, each one of the elders represents a planet:

  • Warcury represents Mercury
  • Nusjuro represents Venus
  • Mars represents planet Mars
  • Ju Peter represents Jupiter
  • Saturn was a direct representation of planet Saturn

Saturn ended up dying at the end of Egghead, and he was replaced by Garling, who is a direct representation of the moon. Meanwhile, Luffy, who is the Sun God, is a direct representation of the sun. This leaves behind three more planets. Uranus is an Ancient Weapon that has not been revealed in the story yet. Neptune is Princess Shirahoshi, given that her father is named Neptune, and she is an Ancient Weapon. Finally, Pluto represents the Ancient Weapon Pluton, which is currently sleeping under Wano and can only be controlled by Momonosuke. Clearly, all of these figures fit in perfectly, leaving behind only the Earth. It goes without saying that in this scenario, Imu would be the perfect fit for Earth, and this would make him the Earth God of the One Piece world.

  • Imu's powers also directly tie to the Earth God. Imu is seemingly immortal, and more than that, they can make anyone else immortal, granting them immense life. The ability to manipulate life itself, as well as enslave others, is the power of the Earth. Imu might be the demon god of Earth and is destined to clash against the Sun God Nika.

The Earth God Vs The Sun God Is Bound To Repeat Once Again

Earth God Vs Sun God Repeat one piece

In the First World that was referenced in the Harley, it was quite clear that immediately upon the descent of the Sun God Nika on planet Earth, Imu, the Earth God, together with a serpent of hellfire, clashed with him. This eventually led to the destruction of the world. This war was repeated once again during the Void Century, when Imu clashed with Joy Boy, and caused catastrophic destruction that sank the whole world.

Now, in the Third World, Nika has descended once again, and it is almost time for Imu to clash with Nika once again. It is almost as if the Earth God and the Sun God are destined to clash against one another until true balance is restored to the world, and One Piece's Final Saga is going to show that in vivid detail. This time around, Luffy, who represents the Sun God, will not lose to Imu, who represents the Earth God, and will go on to restore true balance to the world, destroying this unjust order established by the Earth God forever.
