This arc contains some spoilers for the One Piece series.

One Piece is one of the longest-running manga. This series has been ongoing for over 28 years now, and from the looks of it, One Piece still has a long way to go, possibly 10 years or more.

Throughout this long run, One Piece has given the fans quite a few arcs, some way longer than others. Some of these arcs, while great, could’ve definitely been made shorter by Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece.

Egghead Island Arc

  • Total Chapters: 68 Chapters
  • Total Episodes: To Be Determined

When it comes to long One Piece arcs, one that is currently ongoing in the anime is the Egghead Island arc. The Egghead Island arc was the first to kickstart the Final Saga of One Piece.

In total, the Egghead Island arc was 68 chapters long in the manga. The arc was pretty great overall, but some parts were definitely going slow, especially at the start. Vegapunk’s speech was also padded over multiple chapters, which could've been more condensed.

When I was a kid, I thought to myself: man I would love to draw a manga with the most hyped final stage! I wonder if I'm up to it! Now, we have only a tiny bit of the Wano arc left, and the preparations are almost done. Took me 25 years lol. That said, it's fine if you start reading from this point on. Because from this point on...it'll be... The ONE PIECE!! The mysteries of this world, I'll be drawing all of them! It'll be super interesting! Fasten your seatbelt! And please stay with me for a bit longer! — Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022

Punk Hazard Arc

  • Total Chapters: 46 Chapters
  • Total Episodes: 46 Episodes

Punk Hazard is not among the most popular arcs in One Piece. This arc took place early on after the One Piece timeskip, and many fans remember how it dragged out quite a lot. This is despite it being just 46 chapters in the manga, which is not that long compared to other arcs.

Punk Hazard could have definitely been shorter. For example, the Yeti Cool Brothers were somewhat of a random inclusion that didn’t add much to the story.

Wano Arc

  • Total Chapters: 149 Chapters
  • Total Episodes: 191 Episodes

The Wano Country arc has quickly become one of the most beloved One Piece arcs, and for good reason. The battle against Kaido on Onigashima was legendary and saw Luffy unlocking Gear 5 - his most powerful form yet.

This arc, however, is currently the longest One Piece arc ever, totaling 149 chapters, which is quite an insane number. Wano could've definitely been shorter too, and a lot could have been easily cut out from the Second Act of the arc. That said, this arc remains incredible.

Whole Cake Island Arc

  • Total Chapters: 78 chapters
  • Total Episodes: 95 episodes

Whole Cake Island is one of the longest One Piece arcs. This arc has 78 manga chapters, and many fans felt certain parts of it dragged on. This especially applies to the Straw Hat chase by Big Mom and her crew after the Tea Party.

Despite all that, this arc remains one of the best post-timeskip arcs. Many fans still rate the Katakuri vs Luffy fight as one of the best, not to mention the incredible development this arc had for Sanji.

Dressrosa Arc

  • Total Chapters: 102 chapters
  • Total Episodes: 118 episodes

Dressrosa was, for a very long time, the longest One Piece arc ever. This arc has 102 chapters and was the first arc of One Piece to break the 100-chapter mark. Its title of the longest arc was eventually taken over by the Wano arc.

The Dressrosa arc was very intense at moments, but at others, it dragged on a lot. It was definitely not an easy one to follow weekly, especially with the Corrida Colosseum, and the race to Doflamingo being thrown into the mix.

One Piece Chapter 1156 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 3. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1156 is August 3, 2025.Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
