Since then, Koby has trained with Monkey D. Garp, Luffy's grandfather, who is a Vice Admiral in the Marines. He has achieved the rank of Captain, and currently serves as a member of the Navy's black ops organization, SWORD. His reputation is such that he has a far higher bounty than most at his rank. Although Koby is occasionally a prominent character, his combat is only seen intermittently. From what has been shown, he is a skilled fighter who relies on a mixture of agility and physical strength, and he does so without any Devil Fruit powers at his disposal. With that in mind, here are some Devil Fruits that would be ideal for the young Koby.

Cipher Pol 0 is a frightening unit operating under the World Government, and they famously do not get along with SWORD. Its known that Zoan fruit users have powers often connected to predators, who tend to lean into the savage nature of their fruits. However, there is one Zoan fruit among the three without this aspect, the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Giraffe. Although Kaku is one of the deadlier foes in the unit, his Devil Fruit gives him a boost in strength and speed, and allows him to transform into a giraffe, which has a long neck that he utilizes for ranged attacks.

Like Kaku, Koby is an agile fighter, with already impressive strength and speed. He, too, could turn the seemingly harmless giraffe into a beast on par with leopards and wolves. Although it is not currently shown to be a part of his proper combat arsenal, Koby has also studied swordplay, and could potentially use swords in conjunction with the transformation, much in the same way that Kaku does.

The Bari Bari no Mi allows its user to build nearly unbreakable barriers. The various shapes and positions these barriers can take allow their user a variety of potential defensive and offensive maneuvers. Koby is considered a hero for his efforts to protect people during the Rocky Port Incident. As a man who wants to use his strength to protect people, the Bari Bari no Mi would be optimal for Koby. He could also augment his attacks with barriers, giving them even more strength and pushing away potentially harmful attacks an opponent may send towards him or the people he wishes to protect.

The Mera Mera no Mi allows its users to create, become, and control fire. It has been utilized by two other associates of Luffy, namely his sworn brothers, Ace and Sabo. Although Koby operates on behalf of the law rather than against it, he still could benefit from this Logia type Devil Fruit.

Beyond the combative utility of becoming and controlling fire, Koby could use this fruit more practically as a Marine. Fire is a common danger for people in many scenarios, and as someone who is able to become and control it, he would be especially desirable in such scenarios. While he already has a reputation for saving people, this fruit could make him that much better at it, especially when under fire, in the literal sense.

Koby is a especially strong fighter in his own right already, even without a Devil Fruit to speak of. Perhaps he could benefit, then, from a Devil Fruit that would not necessarily augment his combative strength. In such a case, the Nagi Nagi no Mi is a perfect option. This Devil Fruit allows its user to create a soundproof field which blocks all sound going in and coming out.

It was formerly used by Donquixote Rosinante, the younger brother of Donquixote Doflamingo. Rosinante used his Devil Fruit to spy on his elder brother's pirate crew for years, as part of his actual job as a Marine Commander. Unfortunately, he was caught and killed by Doflamingo, returning the fruit into circulation. While Koby seems too well known for such a long con, a soundproof field could be valuable in spreading covert information and conducting operations without raising suspicions. Koby's current position had him formally resigned from the Marines due to its nature. The Nagi Nagi no Mi may help with certain more sensitive aspects of SWORD.

This Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit is one of the most diverse in the series, allowing its user to become a Phoenix. While its flames are not as overtly destructive as regular ones, they are still shown to overpower even other fire-based fighters, such as Big Mom's sun homie, Prometheus. However, for Koby, the offensive property may not be the main draw of the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix.

This Devil Fruit's phoenix flames allow its user to heal themselves from near-fatal attacks, making them a very resilient fighter in the grand scheme of things. They can also let attacks pass through them, in the vein of a Logia fruit, if they are in full Phoenix form. Marco, the current user of this Devil Fruit, was able to ride it all the way up to become the First Division Commander of the legendary Whitebeard Pirates. The user can also heal others from their wounds, which may be beneficial for someone who commands Marines. Marco used this attribute to become a doctor after retiring from piracy. Although its user is not invincible, this Devil Fruit would still be perfect for Koby due to the various maneuvers he could pull off with it.
