One Piece's Elbaf arc continues to heat up and the latest chapter of the series went on to reveal one of the most overpowered Devil Fruit abilities in the entire series, that is Loki's dragon Devil Fruit. Teased as the National Treasure of Elbaf at first, One Piece Chapter 1174 officially saw Loki transform into a behemoth of a dragon that poured lightning all over the country of Elbaf.
It is clear at this point that Loki is one of the strongest characters in the whole world. In fact, Oda even cleverly referred to Loki as the strongest thing in the world, which goes to show how tremendously overpowered his Devil Fruit ability truly is. However, while Loki possesses an overpowered Devil Fruit, his powers are certainly not the strongest. There is still one Devil Fruit in One Piece that reigns supreme over all others, and that is Yami Yami no Mi.
Loki's Devil Fruit Ability Was Revealed In The Elbaf Arc
The National Treasure With The Power To Destroy The World
When Loki was first introduced in One Piece, it was clear that he was a monstrously powerful character. This is because Big Mom stated in the Whole Cake Island arc that if the marriage between Lola and Loki had materialized, then she would have gained enough power to destroy all her fellow competitors, including even the likes of Whitebeard, and become the Pirate King. The weight of that statement is immense and fans perhaps did not understand at the moment, but in Elbaf, it is quite clear to see that Big Mom was stating nothing but the truth.
In the Elbaf arc of One Piece, Oda highlighted Loki's powers time and again. The Giants of Elbaf stated that Loki held such power that if he were to be unleashed, he would destroy not just the country but the whole world. The World Government gave him a special bounty of 2.6 billion berries, and the only person in the world capable of stopping Loki was Shanks. All these things taken into consideration make it quite clear that Loki was a monster, and all this was thanks to his powerful Devil Fruit ability, which he ate 14 years ago in Aurust Castle.
Loki's Devil Fruit was known as the National Treasure of Elbaf, passed down the royal line for centuries. Nobody in hundreds of years was able to eat this Devil Fruit until Loki. Quite clearly, Loki's Devil Fruit is incredibly overpowered, given that it gives him the ability to transform into a giant black dragon, likely Nidhogg. This dragon is capable of lightning manipulation and at the same time, it most likely has access to fire manipulation as well. More than that, Loki's dragon is absolutely massive in terms of size, and it can easily destroy the entire world.
Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi Is Still Stronger Than Loki's Dragon
Yami Yami no Mi Absorbs Devil Fruit Powers
While Loki's Devil Fruit is easily one of the most overpowered in the whole world and might even go on to destroy the world, it is still not the strongest among all Devil Fruits. That honor would go to the Yami Yami no Mi, which belongs to none other than Blackbeard. It was clearly established long ago in One Piece that among all Devil Fruits that exist in the world, the one that stands at the very top is the Yami Yami no Mi.
This power chose me, Ace! With it, I'm the strongest in the world, Ace! — Teach to Ace
Other Devil Fruits can hold overpowered abilities or even powers of Gods, but the Yami Yami no Mi makes all of them useless. This is because the Yami Yami no Mi has the power to nullify the power of all other Devil Fruits. In fact, this Devil Fruit is specifically highlighted to absorb the power of the devil itself, which means that even someone like Imu, whose powers make him the devil of the One Piece world, cannot escape from this dangerous ability. Loki might be very strong, but against Blackbeard, his Devil Fruit ability is simply useless. Similarly, Nika is incredibly powerful, but Luffy cannot utilize Gear 5 in the presence of the Yami Yami no Mi, which is what makes it the true strongest Devil Fruit among all others.
Blackbeard has slowly been growing stronger with each passing arc and it is almost time for Oda to establish him as the main villain of the story. Blackbeard will even go on to become a threat to Imu himself in the final arc, and his Devil Fruit is likely going to have dominion over Imu's dangerously terrifying abilities as well. No one can escape Blackbeard's power of darkness, and that includes all Devil Fruit users in the One Piece world, including Luffy, Loki, and even Imu.
