Shanks is said to be Eiichiro Oda’s “golden boy,” mostly because of the author’s seemingly personal fondness for him. Oda clearly established Shanks as an overpowered pirate, yet fans find him dull and boring due to the lack of astonishing feats that can leave them in awe of his supposed combat prowess.
Other than that, Shanks appears relatively infrequently, making fans feel he’s overhyped compared to how little he actually shows up. And when he does show up, his presence alone is enough to overshadow other characters without the need to take action. He also seems to have the worst timing for appearances, particularly during the Marineford story arc.

True enough, she looks terrifying, and the threat she exudes is real, from her massive size and unmatched strength. Uta

One of the biggest reasons why Uta is hated by One Piece fans is her sudden appearance in the lore. She almost felt like an insert character, just a random character added to the story with little to no buildup. Her introduction is incredibly late for someone who was Luffy’s childhood friend and Shanks’ adoptive daughter.
Worse, Uta holds incredible powers that require the combined strength of two of the most powerful pirate crews in One Piece. For many fans, this feels like a disrespect to the established power balance in the series.
On the contrary, adding Uta to One Piece is one way to give more character depth to Shanks, who, as fans know, remains an enigmatic character. She also brings a unique aesthetic to the series with her powers.
