Roronoa Zoro is one of the strongest characters in the world of One Piece. Known to be a Master Swordsman, Zoro is quite skilled with the Three Sword Style and he possesses very powerful Haki of all three types. While Zoro has a very high ceiling, he hasn't peaked as a fighter yet. There are plenty of powerful characters that far surpass his level of strength right now. In the Final Saga, Oda has revealed a plethora of overpowered characters, most of which go on to dwarf Zoro's power level.
One Piece: 32 Strongest Swordsmen, Ranked
Considering its swashbuckling setting, it's unsurprising that talented swordfighters populate One Piece. Here are the strongest of the lot.
Trafalgar D. Water Law
- Devil Fruit: Ope Ope no Mi
- Haki: Armament, Observation
Zoro Vs Trafalgar D. Water Law is often debated among the fans. But, at least at the moment, Law is definitely the stronger of the two. In Wano, Law was fighting Big Mom, while Zoro took on a Yonko Commander.
After Wano, Law also acquired a Yonko-level bounty of 3 billion berries. Above all, Law has an incredibly Overpowered awakened Devil Fruit that's powerful enough to tear through Big Mom's defenses. He even has Haki strong enough to reverse Devil Fruit abilities. Thanks to the Ope Ope no Mi, Law could potentially defeat Zoro, even though it would be a close fight.
Yamato
- Devil Fruit: Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami
- Haki: Armament, Observation, Conqueror's
Yamato is the child of Kaido, and as such, their powers are immense. Yamato has Haki of all three types, and a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, with which Yamato was able to hold off Kaido on Onigashima singlehandedly with minimal damage, something Zoro failed to do.
Yamato has shown that, at the moment, she would defeat Zoro in an all-out battle, and do so without too much trouble, even though many would love to believe otherwise.
The Admirals
- Devil Fruits: Pika Pika no Mi (Kizaru), Zushi Zushi no Mi (Fujutora), Mori Mori no Mi (Ryokugyu)

The One Piece Admirals are often taken too lightly by fans. However, they remain some of the strongest fighters of the Marine Organization.
The current Admirals are made up of Kizaru, Fujitora, and Greenbull. Every one of them would give Zoro a tough battle, and even defeat him without even going all out.
Kuzan
- Devil Fruit: Hie Hie no Mi
- Haki: Armament, Observation
Kuzan is a former One Piece Admiral known as Aokiji. After the Paramount War and his battle with Akainu, he left the Marines. Kuzan is instead now a member of the Blackbeard Pirates, and is definitely their strongest member after Blackbeard himself.
Kuzan was once almost on the level of Admiral Akainu. He isn’t someone Zoro can yet defeat.
Akainu
- Devil Fruit: Magu Magu no Mi
- Haki: Armament, Observation
Fans are well aware of the fact that Akainu isn’t an average Admiral. He’s the current Fleet Admiral of the Marines in One Piece, and he didn't achieve this title easily. He had to show his power in an all-out battle against Kuzan on Punk Hazard.
Akainu hasn’t even showcased his full strength yet, but fans know Oda has huge plans for him in One Piece’s final saga. His Haki is immensely powerful, but more than that, he possesses the Magu Magu no Mi, which is incredibly overpowered, as it allows him to manipulate and turn into magma at will. At the moment, Zoro wouldn’t be able to defeat a normal Admiral, let alone stand a chance against the Fleet Admiral.
Sabo
- Devil Fruit: Mera Mera no Mi
- Haki: Armament, Observation
Sabo is the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army. After Dragon, he's the strongest the organization has to offer. Sabo has showcased incredible Haki mastery, and he even acquired the logia power of Mera Mera no Mi in Dressrosa.
Sabo was able to escape Imu and the Five Elders, and that alone is more impressive than any Zoro achievement. His true strength remains to be seen, but he easily held his own against Fujitora in an extended battle in Dressrosa.
Boa Hancock
- Devil Fruit: Mero Mero no Mi
- Haki: Armament, Observation, Conqueror's
Boa Hancock is often underestimated by the fans, but it goes without saying that she could definitely defeat Zoro. As opposed to what many fans believe, only Luffy is immune to Hancock’s love beam. That aside, Hancock’s petrification abilities do not even require attraction to work. This is why Blackbeard wanted to keep his distance from her.
Hancock could potentially defeat Zoro in a single attack. After all, even a Yonko, Blackbeard, who is far stronger than Zoro, feared she would take him down in a head-on battle if he didn't sneak up on her.
Monkey D. Dragon

- Haki: Armament, Observation, Conqueror's
Monkey D. Dragon is one of the most dangerous men in One Piece. He leads the Revolutionary Army, and while he has yet to show his strength, he’s going to be, at the very least, on the level of a Yonko. Oda is keeping Dragon’s powers hidden for a reason, and when he goes all out in the Final Saga, fans will definitely be blown away. His strength will surpass anything showcased previously by Zoro.
Five Elders And Some Holy Knights

The Five Elders and the Holy Knights have a huge advantage over Zoro. They possess immortality through Imu and can only be damaged through advanced Conqueror’s Haki and Haki mass control.
Right now, Zoro can’t even control his Conqueror’s Haki properly. While he's stronger than some Holy Knights in terms of power, he's definitely weaker than others, such as Shamrock. Either way, right now, Zoro can’t even scratch them. He should, however, surpass the average Holy Knight in Elbaf. Later on, he will surpass the Five Elders as well.
Monkey D. Luffy
- Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika
- Haki: Armament, Observation, Conqueror's
Monkey D. Luffy is by far the strongest member of the Straw Hat Pirates. After all, Luffy is Zoro’s captain, and while Zoro could be close to him in power after the final battle, Luffy will always be the stronger one of the two. Luffy is destined to become One Piece’s strongest character at the end of the series. Right now, Luffy is so strong that he could easily one-shot Zoro without even trying.
