The Yonko are the four strongest pirates in the One Piece world who rule the New World with absolute authority. The first Yonko in One Piece were made up of Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, and Shanks, but out of these four, three have been defeated or replaced in different ways. Given the power of the Yonko, beating them is nearly impossible, and killing them is even more difficult. Nevertheless, the feat of killing a Yonko has still been achieved by a few, and needless to say, they are monsters in their own right.
4 Blackbeard
- Yonko Killed: Whitebeard
Blackbeard has slowly been rising up the ladder since his introduction as one of the major antagonists. He is a cunning character, having murdered one of his own crewmates back when he was a Whitebeard Pirate. As such, Blackbeard and Whitebeard go way back.
During the Summit War saga, it was Blackbeard who dealt the final blow to the legendary Yonko Whitebeard. Blackbeard's murder of Whitebeard gave him one of the strongest Devil Fruits in the world of One Piece, called the Gura Gura no Mi. With that defeat of Whitebeard, Blackbeard also went in the running for the title of Yonko himself, which he went on to achieve in the next year, and he still holds to this day in One Piece.
How Blackbeard Killed Whitebeard
Blackbeard's victory over Whitebeard was not a show of might. By the time Blackbeard reached Whitebeard in the Summit War Saga, the latter was already at the end of his life. Whitebeard had faced numerous attacks from the Marines, particularly from the likes of Akainu. Furthermore, Whitebeard was very old and sickly. As such, Blackbeard and his crew just had to land the final blows to take his life. It is also assumed that to steal his Devil Fruit powers, Blackbeard consumed a part of Whitebeard. With that, the world's strongest man died.
3 Monkey D. Luffy
- Yonko Killed: Kaido
Luffy is the iconic protagonist of the One Piece series. Fans have been following Luffy and his adventure all the way from the East Blue, back when he was fighting the likes of Arlong. Now, in the New World, Luffy has showcased immense strength and reached new heights of power by becoming one of the few characters known to be able to defeat and take down a Yonko.
In the Wano arc of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy took down the strongest creature in the world, Kaido. Kaido was so strong that he was said to always win in a one-on-one fight. Of course, Luffy proved that wrong by beating him. At the moment, Kaido is presumed to be dead, although Oda has yet to officially confirm that.
How Luffy Killed Kaido
Kaido was definitely Luffy's toughest battle in the entirety of One Piece so far. Kaido, with his legendary Eastern Dragon Devil Fruit, was difficult to even scratch, let alone beat. On top of that, Kaido had incredible Haki mastery. Nevertheless, Luffy came out on top and this was down to the awakening of his Devil Fruit and mastery of Conqueror's Haki. With these powers, he was able to overpower the legendary Yonko and eventually crush him with overwhelming force. Kaido later exploded in a cataclysmic volcanic eruption and should most certainly be dead.
2 Trafalgar D. Water Law
- Yonko Killed: Big Mom
Trafalgar Law is one of the most popular characters in the One Piece series. First introduced in Sabaody Archipelago, Law would only become a relevant character again after the timeskip, starting with Punk Hazard. Luffy and Law joined hands and fought together on multiple occasions, such as their battle on Dressrosa against Doflamingo. However, their two-man alliance truly went on to shine during the Onigashima battle. While Luffy took on Kaido, someone else had to handle the other Yonko, Big Mom. As such, Law and Kid formed an alliance to take down this powerful Yonko. Law had to make use of the true potential of one of the most versatile Devil Fruits around, Ope Ope no Mi, to take down Big Mom.
How Law Killed Big Mom
Law was able to take down Yonko Big Mom, but he did not achieve this feat alone. He had the help of Kid to achieve this incredible feat. In this battle against Big Mom, Law had to make use of his Devil Fruit Awakening. While Big Mom's defenses seemed to be impenetrable, Law proved it otherwise by causing deadly internal damage to his Yonko using abilities such as Shock Wille, and Puncture Wille. Of course, just like Kaido, Big Mom's current status is not entirely clear. At the moment, she is assumed dead by everyone in the One Piece world, including members of the Blackbeard Pirates.
1 Eustass Kid
- Yonko Killed: Big Mom
Eustace Kid was one of the most important Worst Generation members. Just like Law, he was first introduced on Sabaody Archipelago, but unlike the latter, it took years for Oda to make him relevant again in the story. Kid would come to shine during the Wano arc of One Piece. His role in the Onigashima raid made him a pivotal character as he and Law had to handle the other Yonko, Big Mom, who was stated to be as dangerous as Kaido. Through teamwork with Law, and some luck, he was able to take down this impenetrable force of nature.

How Kid Killed Big Mom
As previously stated, Kid did not win his battle against Big Mom alone. He had to fight side-by-side with Law. That said, Kid had his own moments that made him stand out in this battle. Just like Law, Kid made use of his Jiki Jiki no Mi awakening to deal some deadly damage to this Yonko.
Kid used some potent attacks to keep Big Mom from moving, such as Punk Corna Dio. At the end of this battle, Law and Kid were able to win by kicking Big Mom off of Onigashima. In a way, these two got lucky in this fight since they wouldn't have been able to finish her off if she hadn't fallen off the island and had bombs dropped on her. Big Mom then got caught up in a cataclysmic volcanic eruption that likely tore her to shreds. She's presumed dead in the One Piece world right now. That said, a full return for her isn't impossible either, given Oda never showed her funeral in the story.
