One Piece dropped a third chapter in a row on February 15, 2026, with One Piece Chapter 1174. It goes without saying that this chapter was absolutely spectacular, just as the vast majority of the chapters in the Elbaf arc have proven to be so far. Given that the Elbaf flashback ended only recently, the pace of the recent chapters was always going to be a lot slower. This is because to build up to the eventual conflict that explodes in the country, a lot of careful development needs to be put into place. Oda excels at that and did a phenomenal job over the course of the last three chapters.
Now, it is quite clear that the climax of the Elbaf arc is almost upon the fans. The big battles are finally here, and One Piece Chapter 1174 clearly paved the way for that with the incredible arrival of Luffy and Loki on the scene. Finally, the Sun God of Liberation has arrived, and the battle against Imu is about to begin.
Sommers And Celestial Dragon Cruelty Grows In One Piece
As is usually the case, Oda did not hold back when showing the dark side of the humans that exist in the world of One Piece. The Celestial Dragons are a representation of the most evil and heinous people that exist in the world, and their cruelty was on full display in One Piece Chapter 1174. Particularly, Oda decided to give a lot of focus to Saint Sommers, who has appeared to be one of the best villains in the post-time skip of the series. Sommers might not be all that powerful, but his cruelty knows no bounds. His twisted vision of love, as well as the pain he derives from harming those who love each other, makes him quite an interesting character to follow.
Oda put on quite a display when he derived immense joy from the parents being skewered by their own children in the chapter, and then all plummeting to their deaths. To Sommers, this was the perfect entertainment that sent him over the moon. In this particular moment, Sommers was supposed to be a representation of Celestial Dragon's ideology in general. All Celestial Dragons are quite cruel, and to them, humans are nothing but filth. They consider themselves to be Gods and above all those who exist on the surface down below. Oda did a brilliant job when it comes to contrasting the love and care that the giants of Elbaf hold for their children and the contempt and disgust the Celestial Dragons have for all those living on the surface below in One Piece Chapter 1174.
At the same time, the parents and children falling to their deaths served to crush the hopes of everyone in Elbaf. At the moment, it appeared almost as if all hope was lost and the mission to rescue all the children officially failed, but as is usually the case, in the hour of the greatest need, the Sun God arrived and saved the day. That is exactly what Luffy did in One Piece Chapter 1174 alongside Loki.
Oda Shows Why Mothers Are The Strongest In One Piece
Oda also went on to dedicate a special part of the chapter to all the mothers in the One Piece world. In One Piece chapter 1174, Oda went on to portray mothers as one of the most powerful forces that exist in the world, and the display was quite beautiful, to say the least. To contrast the power of a mother, Oda showcased the strongest warriors of Elbaf not being able to withstand the pain caused by the thorns surrounding the children. Oimo, one of the strongest members of the Giant Warrior Pirates, was skewered by the thorns around the children and was not able to withstand the pain. It must be kept in mind that he was a seasoned pirate, yet Ripley, Colon's mom, was easily able to embrace him despite knowing that she would inevitably end up dying. To her, saving her child was the most important thing.
I'm sorry I couldn't stop you Colon, but I won't let you did alone. Your mama is with you. — Ripley to Colon
Ripley was not alone in this act. All the other parents of the children in Elbaf followed suit and grabbed their children despite the threat of death looming over them. It takes a special kind of strength to be able to withstand such an incredible amount of pain for someone else, and in that sense, One Piece chapter 1174 did a brilliant job in portraying how strong the mothers in the One Piece world truly are. This also gives a nod to Oda's own answer long ago in an SBS section, where he openly stated that a mother is even stronger than Kaido, who is the strongest creature in the world of One Piece. As such, this chapter did a brilliant job of portraying the incredible strength of all the mothers that exist in the world of One Piece, such as the likes of Portgas D. Rouge, Dadan, Otohime, Scarlet, Toki, and, of course, the Yonko of the sea Big Mom, as well.
Luffy and Loki Arrive To Save The Day In One Piece Chapter 1174
The most important part of One Piece Chapter 1174 was at the very end, when Luffy and Loki finally arrived in the Sun Realm. As the parents and the children plummeted to their deaths, it was Luffy who ended up saving them with one of his Gear 5 powers. Luffy was seen riding the back of an absolutely massive giant dragon, and soon after, this dragon made its appearance in the Sun World. The power of Luffy and Loki together was such that it shook the entire country. Luffy's Drums of Liberation were heard all over Elbaf, and Loki's power caused a thunderstorm that shook the country to its very core. Together, these two completely took the Sun World by storm, and it is quite clear to see that they are an unstoppable force of nature at this point.
On a snowy day with thunder across the sky, a giant dragon will engulf the sky, and with the drums of liberation, the Sun God shall appear! — Jarul
The Sun God of Liberation has finally arrived in One Piece Chapter 1174, and with him is the enormous beast that engulfs the entire sky, Loki. In doing so, One Piece Chapter 1174 also confirmed Loki's Devil Fruit to be the Nidhogg Dragon, which is something that has been theorized for quite a while now. With Imu and the Celestial Dragons having taken notice of this monstrously powerful force that has emerged from the depths of the Underworld, the main battles are now about to begin, and things are going to get incredibly exciting moving forward. Unfortunately, One Piece will be on break next week, which means fans will have to wait two weeks for the manga to resume and for Luffy and Loki to clash with the sovereign of the world, Imu.
