Fans were fully expecting Nico Robin and Scopper Gaban to head into the battle against the Holy Knights in One Piece chapter 1148, and that is precisely what ended up happening in this week's chapter of One Piece, to the surprise of nobody.

Nico Robin was clearly infuriated by the attempt of the Holy Knights to destroy the history of the world by ordering the Elbaph Giants to burn down their schools and libraries. Fans were fully expecting her to go into action against the Holy Knights in One Piece chapter 1148, and that is exactly what happened. Robin vs Sommers began immediately and she landed a bunch of powerful blows on him. Hitting the Holy Knights isn't hard at all.

This proved to be quite a similar situation to what fans saw on Egghead. When it comes to the Elders, hitting them isn't an issue. Most of the time, they don't even avoid the attacks because they're immortal. Similarly, Sommers didn't bother dodging Robin's attacks. That said, Robin wasn't trying to beat him.

Nico Robin’s goal was to free the Straw Hat Pirates, and if possible, figure out a way to counter the immortality of the Holy Knights. Unfortunately, her attempt to free the Holy Knights failed as Gunko's arrows were way too difficult to counter.

In the meanwhile, Sommers, who had given the Giants 30 seconds to make their decision regarding bending the knee to the World Government continued to press forward. The lives of the children were at stake, and Rojna, one of the bravest and most adorable children, was ready to jump to her death for the sake of the country. As Rojna prepared to jump after showing courage, Jarul made the decision to bow down to the Holy Knights and serve them, as long as it meant saving the lives of the children. At the same time, the decision to burn down the schools and the libraries of Elbaf was also made, that is, until the savior appeared.

Scopper Gaban Saves The Day

Gaban Rushed to the Battle And Defeated Sommers

One Piece chapter 1148 ended on quite a shocking note as Scopper Gaban saved Nico Robin from certain death, Rojna from her fall, and Elbaf's schools and libraries from being burned down. He did all this with two swings of his axes. With one swing, he chopped the arm of Saint Sommers, bypassing his immortality, and with the other swing, he cut Sommers across the chest, scarring him for life, and most likely defeating him right there.

It is clear that Gaban holds the key to bypassing the immorality of the Five Elders, Holy Knights, and Imu and that this is where the Straw Hat Pirates will finally learn how to get around this ability. Fans can't wait to see what direction One Piece will take next, but things are already looking incredibly exciting, to say the least. Unfortunately, One Piece will be on break next week, but fans are already excited to see the story continue.

One Piece Chapter 1149 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on May 11. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1149 is May 25, 2025.
