Oda used to take a break after every 5 or so chapters around the Whole Cake Island arc, but that number has slowly dropped due to his health condition and to ensure that he stays healthy. Right now, Oda takes a break after every 3 One Piece chapters. This isn't surprising at all for those who read the manga, and has been the case for quite a while now. Sometimes, Oda even takes a break after every two chapters, although that's rare.

Since Oda has dropped two chapters consecutively, it is highly likely that he will go on to take a break after One Piece chapter 1148. Some might wonder why Oda will take a break immediately after Golden Week, and the answer to that is Oda usually doesn't consider Jump breaks as his own. Oda's breaks usually follow anyway.
