2025 has been a great year for One Piece fans so far, seeing as the manga reached the long-awaited Elbaf Arc and the anime is finally adapting the climax of the Egghead Arc. Of course, with this iconic action shōnen series becoming more and more popular each day, it’s only natural that some people may want to play a video game that lets them relive this fantastic story.
Best One Piece Games, Ranked
From Musuo to lengthy JRPGs and even an open-world, the best One Piece games have a lot to offer fans of the manga and anime.
Fortunately, there are plenty of older One Piece titles that are worth trying out in 2025, no matter how old they are. Whether they are turn-based RPGs or open-world adventures, the following games will definitely scratch an itch for One Piece fans.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4
This Five-Year-Old Game Is Getting A Next-Gen Update And More DLC Characters
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4
- Released
- March 27, 2020
While the entire Pirate Warriors subseries is worth checking out for its fast-paced Musou gameplay, fans should keep an eye out for its most recent entry, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4. Originally released in 2020, this game covers beloved story arcs like Marineford, Whole Cake Island, and Wano Country while also adding many iconic characters that were never playable in a One Piece game before that point, like Big Mom, Kaido, Germa 66, and many more.
Even though it's already five years old, and even though many other One Piece games were released on home consoles after it, Pirate Warriors 4 has still received consistent updates and DLC packs in the last few years. Additionally, a next-gen edition for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to come out later this year, alongside two new DLC packs that’ll add popular characters like Egghead Rob Lucci, Enel, King, Z, and more, meaning that 2025 is the perfect year to delve into this fun and exciting Musou title.
One Piece Odyssey
A Nostalgic Turn-Based RPG
One Piece Odyssey
- Released
- January 13, 2023
- ESRB
- T For Teen Due To Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Tobacco, Violence
- Genre(s)
- JRPG
On the other hand, the most recent One Piece video game released on home consoles is One Piece Odyssey, an RPG developed by ILCA, the studio behind Sand Land and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Due to its recent release, this is obviously the best-looking game in the franchise, with colorful and detailed graphics that flawlessly represent the cartoony art style of the original anime and manga.
One Piece Odyssey is a very simple but very accessible and engaging turn-based RPG with numerous over-the-top attacks, but this game’s biggest selling point is its collection of levels based on classic story arcs, like Arabasta, Enies Lobby, Marineford, etc. It even received a DLC pack, and it goes on sale on digital storefronts relatively often, so any One Piece fans who are also JRPG enthusiasts should definitely check it out.

But, of course, turn-based RPGs are not for everyone, so some One Piece fans may naturally be looking for something more mainstream and palatable. Fortunately for them, One Piece: World Seeker is the modern open-world game they have been asking for many years, and it’s a really fun one at that.
Upcoming Role-Playing Games People Are Excited For
While plenty of RPGs have been announced for 2026 and beyond, these upcoming role-playing games are especially exciting.
The story takes place in the non-canon Prison Island, as players take control of Luffy and use his wacky rubber abilities to explore the extensive map to find items, complete missions, and fight powerful enemies and bosses. The combat system is particularly engaging, as it allows players to slowly level up and upgrade Luffy’s skill tree to unlock flashy new techniques. Similar to Odyssey, World Seeker is a relatively recent release that received three different DLC expansions and goes on sale quite often, so it’s perfect for anyone who wants to experience a solid open-world adventure while playing as their favorite anime pirate.
One Piece: Burning Blood
The Quintessential 3D Arena Fighter Of The One Piece Franchise
One Piece: Burning Blood
- Released
- May 31, 2016
- ESRB
- T For Teen // Blood, Suggestive Themes, Use of Tobacco, Violence
- Genre(s)
- Fighting, Action, Anime
Even though most anime franchises are usually adapted into a collection of 3D arena fighters (and, truth be told, many of them leave a lot to be desired), One Piece only really got one, and fortunately, it’s one of the best in this entire niche subgenre. Developed by Spike Chunsoft – the studio behind J-Stars Victory VS and One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows - One Piece: Burning Blood is one of the most satisfying and exciting fighting games in the franchise.
The free-roaming 3D combat system is surprisingly engaging, and it's way more polished than other games in this subgenre. Additionally, the gameplay is elevated by the fact that it has a roster that’s made up of over forty-four playable characters, which includes the likes of the entire Straw Hat pirate crew, Crocodile, Whitebeard, Blackbeard, Gecko Moria, Ivankov, Marco, and many more. Unfortunately, Burning Blood came out before many other powerful One Piece characters (like Kaido, Yamato, or Oden) made their on-screen debut, so they’re obviously not in this game. It definitely needs a sequel and/or a next-gen remaster with additional content, similarly to Pirate Warriors 4.
One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum
Arc System Works’ Excellent (Albeit Forgotten) Foray Into The One Piece Franchise

Most anime fans are not particularly fond of 3D arena fighters, so naturally, many of them have been asking Bandai Namco and Shueisha to let Arc System Works develop a 2D One Piece fighting game that looks and plays similarly to the excellent Dragon Ball FighterZ. While that is undoubtedly a very promising idea, some fans have no idea that Arc System Works has actually worked on a project like this, and it's titled One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum, so they can try it out while they wait for a more modern follow-up.
Great Pirate Colosseum is the 2D One Piece fighter of most fans’ dreams, complete with excruciatingly detailed sprite work brought to life with fluid animation and a complex but satisfying combat system. Curiously enough, it even has cross-play with another Arc System Works title, Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, meaning that it allows players to pitch iconic One Piece characters against iconic Dragon Ball characters in exciting battles. It’s worth pointing out that Great Pirate Colosseum is a Nintendo 3DS game that was only released in Japan, so anybody who’s interested in playing it has to import a copy, but the effort is definitely worth it.
One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X
It’s Basically Super Smash Bros X One Piece
- Platform: Nintendo 3DS
- Released: November 13, 2014
- Developer: Ganbarion
- Genre: Fighting
Many One Piece fans believe that the cartoony art style and atmosphere of the series would fit perfectly with the platform fighter genre that was popularized by Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Franchise. Curiously enough, however, there’s a Japan-only Nintendo 3DS game that is pretty much Super Smash Bros. With One Piece characters, and it’s called One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X.
The Best Nintendo Switch Games That Don't Require An Internet Connection
Most games need an internet connection, but not these amazing Nintendo Switch games that you can enjoy completely offline.
Up to four players can take control of many different characters and face each other in chaotic battles with platforms and items. This combat system is obviously a lot less complex but more accessible than the combat system of Great Pirate Colosseum, meaning that it's perfect for casual matches among friends. It’s evident that even Nintendo and Bandai Namco were aware of the Super Smash Bros. Comparisons, because Super Grand Battle! X is famous for having unlockable costumes for the Straw Hats that are based on classic Nintendo characters, like Mario, Link, Samus Aran, Kirby, etc. Needless to say, it would be awesome if this game ever receives a modern remaster on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
One Piece: Unlimited Trilogy
Three Excellent Adventure Games With Multiple Playable Characters
One Piece: Unlimited World Red
- Released
- July 8, 2014
- ESRB
- T For Teen Due To Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Tobacco
- Genre(s)
- Action-Adventure
For an anime/manga series that focuses so much on adventure and exploration, there are not many One Piece video games that belong to the action-adventure genre, but there are a few notorious exceptions, and they are some of the best games in the entire franchise. The fan-favorite Unlimited trilogy is made up of three equally fun titles: One Piece: Unlimited Adventure, One Piece: Unlimited Cruise, and One Piece: Unlimited World Red.
These are old-school action-adventure games that play similarly to classics like The Legend of Zelda or Okami, as players take control of all the members of the Straw Hat Pirates and use their unique abilities to explore semi-open-world maps, solve puzzles, find key items, and fight enemies and bosses. The atmosphere and gameplay of the Unlimited trilogy have been unmatched by any other game in the One Piece franchise, and are something that any longtime fan should experience at some point. The first two games, Unlimited Adventure and Unlimited Cruise, are still stuck on the Nintendo Wii, so anyone interested in trying them out will have to dust out their old console. The third one, Unlimited World Red, did get an enhanced remastered port for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2017, although it's important to point out that this game focuses more on the action than the adventure.
