This list contains spoilers up to the Reverie arc of One Piece.

Summary

  • Swamp Swamp Fruit allows Caribou to transform into sludge to hide from enemies easily.
  • Smoke Smoke Fruit enables Smoker to disappear quickly and blend into the environment for spying.
  • Door Door Fruit lets Blueno teleport using doors for quick getaways and gathering information.

While most of the Devil Fruit abilities seen throughout the series of One Piece are designed to either inflict damage or bulk up the users' defenses, there have also been a few that are extremely useful for sneaking around. Considering how immensely powerful a lot of the top pirates and marines are in the world of One Piece, having the ability to avoid fighting as much as possible can be a great advantage, but being able to actually accomplish this means someone needs the correct fruit that can help keep them hidden at all times.

One Piece: 5 Most Overrated Devil Fruits

Some One Piece Devil Fruits are not nearly as good as one may initially perceive them to be. Here are the most overrated ones of the bunch.

Luffy and the gang have encountered multiple enemies who have acquired sneaky Devil Fruit abilities, but they've also run into a few allies who have been able to help out on espionage missions too. With that being said, it's time to take a closer look at the Devil Fruits that are the best of the bunch when it comes to being able to move around undetected.

7 Swamp Swamp Fruit

Caribou Can Disguise Himself as Sludge to Avoid Detection

Caribou dancing in mud
  • User: Caribou

As a person, Caribou may be a little more than a timid and cowardly pirate, but thanks to his Swamp Swamp Fruit, he has been able to accomplish some pretty impressive feats during his time in the series. Because Caribou is able to control, manipulate, and transform into sludge at command, he will often use this ability to hide himself anytime one of his many enemies walks by.

Sure, it can still be used to dish out damage, but it's also a fruit that gives Caribou an easy way to hide his ugly mug whenever he wants to remain hidden. It might be a little tricky for him to get up close and personal with someone when using the ability because of how out of place it can look in certain environments, but it's still, nonetheless, a great technique for watching enemies from afar while remaining incognito.

6 Smoke Smoke Fruit

Turn into a Puff of Smoke and Disappear Before Anyone Notices a Thing

  • User: Smoker

While Smoker may have no quarrels about making his presence known anytime he encounters a pirate, every now and again, he will also be ordered by the Marines to engage in sneaking missions. Lucky for him, the Smoke Smoke Fruit enables Smoker to quickly wisp himself away anytime he's in danger of getting spotted, but not only that, he can also use it to blend in with the environment if a conflict is raging in the background, especially with smoke coming from cannons and gunpowder.

Of course, anyone who is aware of Smoker's fruit will be able to counteract the ability, but those unfamiliar will have a very hard time realizing that they have a Marine watching them from the shadows. Overall, an excellent Devil Fruit ability that is also very versatile, as while it can inflict plenty of damage, it also has great potential for sneaking missions too.

5 Door Door Fruit

Blueno Devil Fruit
  • User: Blueno

Blueno possesses one of the most bizarre of abilities in the entire series, but it's one that he uses to great effect when taking on the Straw Hats in Water 7. As the name implies, this fruit enables Blueno to create a door out of thin air, which will essentially teleport him to anywhere within his close proximity. While he can use this to get the drop on an enemy before they even know he's coming, he can also gather crucial information by traversing around an environment at record speed through the use of his doors.

If anyone manages to catch on to his antics, he can then simply craft a new door to make a quick getaway. Needless to say, it can be extremely challenging to pin down Blueno once he starts using his Devil Fruit, so while he may be more of a fighter, he can also act as a spy on behalf of CP-0 thanks to his fruit.

4 Calm Calm Fruit

Corazon Could Remove the Noise of His Voice and Footsteps With His Fruit

  • User: Corazon

Unfortunately, despite being a very lovable and memorable character, Corazon only shows up in the series during a flashback that chronicles his history with a young Trafalgar Law. Corazon may not have a fruit that is as powerful as his brother, but despite that, the Calm Calm Fruit does still have some very interesting properties that make it the perfect fit for someone who is intending to work as a spy or rogue pirate.

From being ostracized to losing the ability to touch the sea forever, here are some of the worst things about eating a devil fruit

After Corazon creates a small bubble around him and anyone in close proximity, all noise that is made within the space will be completely silent. This can be used in a plethora of different ways when it comes to sneaking around. For example, Corazon can hide the sound of his footsteps while trying to follow a target, or he can conceal his voice while relaying information he's found back to his comrades. The only major drawback to this impressive fruit is that it only works on people who are within the barrier, though this is a small price to pay for an ability that can literally make someone completely undetectable, so long as they remain out of sight.

3 Clone Clone Fruit

Bon Clay Can Imitate Anyone He Touches

Bon Clay turnign into Luffy
  • User: Bon Clay

In the world of One Piece, which is full of groups, organizations, and pirate crews, being able to mimic someone's appearance can be extremely useful, as is made evident by the owner of the Clone Clone Fruit, Bon Clay. When Bon Clay randomly jumps onto the Going Mery, he shows off the power of his fruit by turning into several of the Straw Hat crew members, mimicking not only their appearances, but even their voices and mannerisms.

On the one hand, Bon Clay can use this to throw his enemies off guard in battle, as he does with Sanji after transforming into Nami. However, as mentioned previously, it also allows him to wander pretty much anywhere he wants in the world without being detected, thanks to his unique ability. Of course, he does still need to make physical contact with someone first in order to become them, but this is an otherwise very small drawback to a Devil Fruit that is excellent for stealth and espionage.

2 Dog Dog Fruit: Model Nine Tailed Fox

Catarina Uses Her Fruit to Deceive Her Enemies Without Them Even Realizing it's Her

Katerina using Nine Tailed fox fruit
  • User: Catarina Devon

Blackbeard has been on a desperate hunt to acquire as many powerful Devil Fruits as he and his crew can get their hands on, and it seems as though during the time-skip, he was somehow able to acquire an Mythical Zoan fruit based on the Nine-Tailed Fox. The lucky crew member who would be gifted this fruit was Catarina Devon, and she would first show it off when Gecko Moria arrived to try and rescue his friend Absalom from Blackbeard's clutches.

Catarina was able to disguise herself as Absalom in order to deceive Moria before then revealing her true identity. From the voice to facial expressions, all the way to the clothes, Catarina looked virtually identical to Moria's former crew member, so it only seems likely that she is going to be Blackbeard's go-to crew member when it comes to infiltrating marine bases and pirate ships in the future.

1 Clear Clear Fruit

Remain Completely Invisible to the Naked Eye

Absalom turns himself invisible - One Piece
  • User: Absalom / Shiryu of the Rain

Though Absalom may not use his invisibility very responsibly, it was still evident that this was an ability that would be incredibly useful for anyone who wanted to avoid getting into fights. The Clear Clear Fruit enables the user to turn completely invisible, and it's an ability Sanji desperately wanted to get his hands on for many years. In the case of Absalom, when he wasn't peeping on Nami, he would use the fruit to keep tabs on the Straw Hats, while also checking for any other oncoming intruders to the island while remaining completely invisible the entire time.

However, this fruit has actually changed hands since then, as it now belongs to Shiryu of the Rain, who uses it to flank his enemies before then slicing them down with one fatal attack. To put it simply, this is undoubtedly the best Devil Fruit ability in the series when it comes to stealth, considering it contains barely any drawbacks to speak of and can still be extremely effective even if the user is a little clumsy or inexperienced.
