The One Piece anime adaptation, despite having many flaws, is still widely beloved by fans—especially since the upgrade it received in the Wano arc which saw the anime quality improve drastically. One Piece has, since then, been quite impressive for a weekly anime. Nevertheless, the One Piece anime is still facing a glaring issue: repeated breaks, almost every month, and for seemingly no reason. The anime will be plagued with a new break, starting late September, much to the disappointment of the fans. One Piece Anime is Going on Break After Episode 1145

The One Piece anime had a 6-month hiatus that lasted from late 2024 to early 2025. Since then, the anime has made it a habit to go on about one break a month. During those breaks, there’s either no episode at all or a recap episode by Chopper, covering random topics.

Either way, fans can expect the last episode of September to drop as scheduled on September 28, 2025. However, after that, the break is going to kickstart. As usual, this break will be two weeks long. This means that instead of One Piece episode 1146 dropping on October 5, fans will have to wait until October 12.
Why The One Piece Anime Takes So Many Breaks
Pacing Could Be One Reason
With so many breaks taking place often, fans do wonder what the reason for that is. Right now, there isn’t any clarification on why breaks have been so frequent. This might seem especially odd as these breaks rarely happened before the 6-month hiatus of One Piece.
That said, fans can theorize, and there could be various reasons for these breaks. One reason could be to give animators more time to work on One Piece since the animation upgrade. Another reason would be to give Oda more time to move ahead of the anime — something that has gotten more difficult to achieve since he's been taking 1-2 break weeks a month.
One Piece Chapter 1159 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12 AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 31. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1159 is September 7, 2025.
