It's a great time to be a One Piece fan. The manga has been putting out some amazing chapters recently, and the anime hasn't been too far behind with its adaptation of the Egghead Arc. Now, it looks like fans will have even more to look forward to.
The official One Piece X account teased a massive announcement that should cover the Egghead anime adaptation, alongside an Elbaf Arc sneak peek and special guest speakers. This is all set to happen during a One Piece panel at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 10, at 12:45 EST.
A Big One Piece Anime Update Is On The Way
Fans are already speculating about what could be announced during the panel. Some seem to be hoping for a new movie, while others think there might finally be an update for WIT Studio's highly anticipated The One Piece adaptation. Given that this is a Toei Animation panel, that doesn't seem likely. Some fans are hoping that this might be the announcement of a God Valley movie adaptation, but given how that's still playing out in the manga and considering that the anime hasn't touched Elbaf yet, it's safe to say that's not it.
In all likelihood, the panel will show off some more of the ongoing Egghead anime adaptation, with things getting closer to wrapping up on that end. That leaves the door open to Elbaf. It's already been confirmed that Toei is going to give fans some sort of sneak peek for the Elbaf anime adaptation, whether it's official promo art or even a quick clip. The latter would be an amazing surprise, but probably isn't a realistic expectation.
While this is all very exciting, the Elbaf sneak peek could come with the news of another hiatus for the anime. The anime last went on hiatus in October 2024. That lasted 6 months, with the anime returning in April 2025. A year later, fans might have to deal with the same thing all over again as Toei prepares for the challenge of adapting what is shaping up to be one of the One Piece manga's most important arcs. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though.
The last time this happened, Toei used the hiatus as an opportunity to remaster the Fish-Man Island Saga, condensing the original 57-episode run down to 21. Not only did it improve pacing, but it also came with visual upgrades more in line with the quality of the recent anime episodes. If the same thing were to happen again, it would make sense for the Dressrosa Saga to be next up in line for a remaster. Though that would present a far greater challenge, considering it's around three times longer than Fish-Man Island was. It might make more sense to start with the Punk Hazard Arc and take it from there.
Aside from all that, there's still the question of who the guest speakers will be. The official Toei account on X revealed that Brook's English VA, Ian Sinclair, and Lilith's English VA, Madeleine Morris, will be there to talk about the Egghead and Elbaf Arcs. They're likely going to keep some guests a surprise until the event. It wouldn't be too shocking to see some of the One Piece live-action cast members make an appearance with season 2 on the horizon.
